O'Reilly & the big walkout on "the View"

Wasn't that exciting?

I saw O'Reilly on Beck later (don't ask), defending himself, and his 2 big points where these:

1) Moderate Muslims COULD stop Al Qaeda, but they haven't done "anything," therefore, it's as though they are all at war with us.
2) The fact that "the View" hosts kept bringing up McVeigh was "stupid," because he was just a lone nutjob, and never said something along the lines of "I'm doing this in the name of Christianity!"

On that last point, I guess we can assume that if McVeigh did make such a statement, Christians would then be the enemy.

To be fair, he did conclude by saying he really did "like Muslims," since there were over a billion of them, and he wanted them to buy his book.

ROFLMAO....

you watch the VIEW.... AND BECK.....

DUMBASS

I had that comin'.

But they were showing the View thing on the cable shows all night; I don't actually watch, because I'm usually working during the day, though I'm open to watching.

As for Beck, I had insomnia, and came across him & O'Reilly; I've watched a few times, though, and it's always been a head shaker. The last time, he had 3 big chalkboards set up, with about a dozen of the "most influential people" in Obama's life, and he was talking about what shaped the radical socialist who currently occupies the WH.

The whole "walk-out" thing was so fricking contrived. They knew what he was going to say (he's been saying it every fricking day since the idea of the mosque/country club/community center was brought to light), they clearly planned it thinking it would garner them sympathy from the audience.

Weak B.S. Don't invite him if you are that "offended" by what he is going to say. Show a clip and start in on a one-way rant where we can all pretend that it shouldn't matter that the attackers all did it because they thought it was "holy" and that God really wanted them to kill many "infidels".

Joy Behar is a frickin' Drama Queen. The best part was when she told O'Reilly she was going to go and he said: "Well then go!"

I LOVED IT!!!

Has he really been saying that? I thought I had heard a quote or 2 from him where the response was more reasoned.

I did think the walkout was pretty dumb, though. Just shred the guy; no reason to avoid discussing it.

I actually don't watch The View, but I think that your being open to watching it and not dismissing it as some chick show is an attractive trait.

As for Beck, you gotta find another cure for your insomnia Onceler.

He's been saying, "They have a right to do it, but it is inappropriate because of..." pretty much since the onset of this "issue". IMO they didn't let him finish what he was saying, interrupted and walked out because they know he has a tempered approach that isn't "All Muslims are teh EEEEeeeevil!" and that many people share his view. "They have a right, it shouldn't be illegal, but I think it is inappropriate at this time to build it there."

IMO, this is a moral issue, not a political one. We show tolerance by continuing to understand they have a right, we speak on the morality by saying "however, I don't think it is the wisest, most compassionate, right thing" or by saying "I think it is GREAT! Every place where an American dies from violence should have a mosque because it would make O'Reilly mad!"

I also watched "Road House" for the dozenth time (roughly). That one's a real guilty pleasure.

This is probably too much information.....

I saw a clip of it on Olbermann last night, and I thought that what seemed to trigger Joy was his bullying and loud manner and then his telling her to be quiet and he'd teach her something. That would have inflamed me too, but I do think that walking off was a mistake. It's like leaving your own home because some pig is being nasty to you. Kick his ass out.

Don't you just know that when SF can't sleep he watches infomercials and has a whole late night collection of Barry Manilow and Neil Sedaka's greatest hits, plus the entire Time Life Barbara Streisand movie collection?

Pretty much. However I do think the walk-out was planned, and that it was planned to ensure he never was able to really say all of what he was going to say. All they were waiting for was for him to "cross that line", in this case he was "arrogant" (he always is, and he seems to never fear going on this show), and if they could stop him there his stance was "too strong" against "all Muslims"...

It's not like this was his first episode of O'Reilly's Adventures on The View...

Yeah it could be. Could also be contrived for ratings. Everyone was talking about it last night so their ratings will probably spike today. ANd maybe O'Reilly will sell more books. Pretty cynical but they are all entertainers.

True that. I always feel sorry for the lone oft-interrupted token conservative woman on the show...

Someone posted a clip of this on the Ohio State rivals board yesterday which of course started a complete flamefest of how could the male poster watch the View. It was pretty funny.

Of course as I say that I watched some of the clip. To me it was like they all to get ratings or sell a book or whatever. I felt it pretty much a waste of time to have watched.

To be a real man you have to enjoy watching men in skin-tight pants adjust themselves repeatedly, bend over, and tackle each other.

Am I right?

To me, saying that it's "inappropriate" IS saying "All Muslims are the EEEeeevil!" I don't really see the distinction.
