I didn't make the claim that I have degree in climatology. I posted a linked article written BY scientists that HAVE a degree in climatology.

Human life was here during the Medieval warming period, humans were here during the "Little Ice Age", so you are just plain wrong on this. In neither instance, did human activity have a damn thing to do with the extreme change in temperature.

The data is clear and the evidence has been building, not diminishing. This has been the warmest decade on record and the earth has been growing warmer over the last 50 years.

No one has disputed that our planet is in a warming cycle. You keep maintaining this well-known fact of cyclical temperature change, is some kind of evidence man is causing it, and you've not made that case. It's also NOT the warmest decade on record, we know from ice cores, the planet has been much warmer in the past. Although thermometers hadn't been invented yet, we know the Medieval warming period was warmer. That's why your "scientists" decided to discard that information from their famous hockey stick graph.

The consensus is not in doubt. You and I can haggle over whether the consensus is at 98/2 or 97/3 etc, by it is a consensus and the percentage is overwhelming of research climatologists in the world who say that global warming is real, that it is caused by us, that it is happening now and it's impacts will be catastrophic.

The data from other, independent research supports the consensus. So I asked him: 'then why do they spend months and even years living in shacks and tents out on icebergs? And of course, my dad being so intelligent and worldly said: 'to throw us off'

Botanists will tell you, most plant life on Earth, evolved in a much richer environment of carbon dioxide, and until recently, was actually 'starving' due to lack of CO2. You see, when the planet was formed, it was very hot, and CO2 was much more prevalent in our atmosphere. Worse than anything mankind could ever duplicate, even if we had factories pumping it into the atmosphere 24/7/365! Yet, through all of that, everything living on this planet came to be, and evolved into what we have today. This life has survived a multitude of environmental changes and temperature variances, and there is no reason to believe it will not continue to adapt and do the same in the future, in spite of anything man does.

There is no consensus on man's effect regarding the current warming trend. There is a theory that CO2 amplifies the greenhouse effect, but since CO2 is only a small fraction of greenhouse gases, it remains to be seen how much (if any) of an amplified effect it has on the current warming trend. Most of the greenhouse gas is water vapor, and without the greenhouse effect, we couldn't live on the planet, life couldn't survive here. The most important benefit to an increased concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, is increased healthiness of plant life. CO2 causes plants to retain more moisture, thus enabling plants to grow in much more arid environments. We presently have a concentration of about 360ppm CO2 in our atmosphere, if that increased to say... 600ppm or so... you might see deserts become lush rain forests. The world hunger problem could be solved, as we could grow food virtually anywhere on the planet.

To illustrate how absurd the alarmist rhetoric is over CO2, think about this... Every mammal that has ever lived in the history of the Earth, produced CO2 with every breath it took. Billions, if not trillions, of mammals, taking billions or trillions of breaths in their lifespan, each one producing an amount of CO2.... converting O2 into CO2... because that is what mammals do when they live. Yet, it didn't melt the North Pole or cause catastrophe of any kind.
