It does protect jobs. You may call that inefficiency, but overseas slave labor is a moral derangement which shouldn't be framed as "increased efficiency". It's just taking advantage of oppressed people, and betraying fellow countrymen.

Chilled free speech is allowing multinational corporate dollars to come in secretively and warp the public debate, reducing the influence of regular citizens.

A steel tariff protects inefficient producers of steel by forcing consumers of steel (other manufacturers) to subsidize them.

It does not keep jobs here. The steel buyer's higher costs will force them to either raise prices or go out of business. Higher prices will lead to lower sales. Lower sales leads to lower production and less jobs.

Some markets are not as elastic as you may think. When you're building out, you're building out, and if foreign steel is more expensive, you will buy the domestic steel. it's worth it to keep fellow americans employed.
I did say wage slaves. They're wage slaves, not much better than actual slave.
I believe their nations should be left alone so their economies can progress naturally, instead of being corralled into foreign owned wage slave camps so they can put free people out of work. I care about everybody.
