"New York (CNN) -- Are you tired of the extremes dominating the debate? Angry about hyperpartisans hijacking American politics? Well, Jon Stewart has a rally for you and me.

The Rally to Restore Sanity is slated for October 30, the weekend before Election Day, on the Washington Mall.

This isn't a concealed campaign rally for either party. It's a counterprotest against the rising tide of conformity that causes hyperpartisans to demonize people with whom they disagree. It's the anti-demagogue Saturday on the mall; people taking to the streets and yelling, "Be reasonable!"

Here's how Stewart described it on "The Daily Show": "We live in troubled times, with real people who have real problems. ... Problems that have real but imperfect solutions, that I believe 70 to 80 percent of our population could agree to try, and ultimately live with. Unfortunately, the conversation and the process is controlled by the other 15 to 20 percent."



I love the suggestions for signs for the rally:

"Among the signs suggested for the rally:

-- "I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler"

-- "9/11 was an outside job"

-- "Got Competence?"

-- "I'm not afraid of Muslims, Tea Partiers, Socialists, Immigrants, Gun Owners or Gays ... but I am scared of spiders."

-- "Take it Down a Notch For America"
 
Jon Stewart is one of the most far-left liberal partisans on TV....
He is as extreme and narrow minded as they come...only Olbermann The Fanatic is more extreme than him....
If he tones it down a few notches, he might get on a par with Howard Dean....

He's funny, and doesn't take himself serious like Glenn Beck who thinks he is the reincarnations of Moses! Leading his people's out of the desert! John Stewart mocks them all! I love it that he gets to you!

I don't get it from y'all. we've been dealing with moderate left and right for so long and look where it's gotten us. In one of the worst recessions i've seen in my lifetime. Why on earth would you want to maintain that status quo?

The moderates have left the planet. they haven't been in control since Eisenhower, how can you make this statement with a straight face? The adults aren't in politics anymore! i was hoping that some reasonable people would take over the GOP, like Whitman, but that hasn't happened! and it is really too bad for all of us!

Here's the deal with Stewart's perspective... To him, Obama represents the 'center' and the Tea Party is extreme right, while those liberals angry at Obama for not being more liberal, are the extreme left. He thinks, if we get the Tea Party to shut up, and get the liberals bitching at Obama to shut up, we can have 'moderate centrist' governing!

Radical left wing socialist liberals are in FULL control of power in Washington! It seems an odd time to be calling for civility in the political tone, doesn't it? I mean, if we had elected a moderate like McCain, I could see his point, it would be a good time for both sides to marginalize their extremes, but that didn't happen, we elected a liberal far-left ideologue, and now, butt monkeys like Stewart want to pretend the 'divisiveness' is killing us. He really IS a funny funny man!

The pendulum is clearly swinging back to the right, while you and Stewart try desperately to hold it back and not let that happen... but it's gonna happen, it always does. We are a center-right country, most intelligent people understand that. What we have in leadership now... Obama, Reid, Pelosi... are NOT center-right, or center-anything, except maybe center-Marxist.

Dixie, you just don't get it, poll after poll show that Americans do not trust the far left and poll after poll after poll shows they trust the far right even less then the left.

Absolutely! I am one of those, even though some here like to paint me far left, I really don't think I am radical in my thinking. I just dislike war and the war machine and I might ride that pony, but at least, I am consistent!

An observation: The youngin use expletives less the those people over 40, but this is only guessing on some of the ages of people on here!
