Fractional reserve banking does lots to the economy not necessarily for it.
Fractional reserve banking is a net benefit to bankers alone. It is a system that allows them to take a large share of profits from good investments while we insulate them from the risks of faulty investments with government bailouts.
Follow the link. You should certainly have the option of putting your money at risk if you like, but it should be your choice and you should be the one to gain.
Americans should have the option of risk free accounts. These accounts would of course have no interest rates. The government isn't required to bail out banks its only required to give the investors back their money. Every bank account is all ready risk free because its insured by the FDIC. The government could have chosen to owner the insurance and let the banks fail then Americans would have been free to put their money in new financial institutions.
