BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Bill Ritter (D) of CO

New Mexico will more than likely have a Republican Governor. Susanna Martinez. She is the DA here in Dona Ana County. She has an abysmal trial record as a prosecutor, losing almost 4 in 10 cases. She overcharges all the time, she has taken credit for a law making child abuse resulting in death a life sentence when she only appeared in Santa Fe one time during the debate. But Richardson is now so unpopular that he is hurting Denish, who has been his Lt. Governor for the last 7.5 years. I don't know whether to cheer for Dona Ana County that we will have a new DA or mourn for New Mexico that we will have Susanna Martinez as Governor.

I can't see that. Polls were showing he was down by single digits in the polls, that certainly isn't insurmountable. Something is up, and we'll likely never find out what it is.

I'm thinking it might have to do with the Federal investigation into the whole Voorhis issue.
I was going to say, some one has something on him he doesn't want out?

I think support is going to solidify around one candidate or the other as the election approaches. Tancredo has definitely complicated things, though. Even if he just gets 5%, that's still going to work heavily in Hickenlooper's favor.

It seems the Republicans are having a lot of problems with their heavily radicalized base, who are beginning to go so off-kilter that they refuse to vote for anyone electable by the majority. Democrats are generally happy with their candidates and STFU and accept it if they're not. Republicans don't take shit. Much like how in many countries the presence of strong Communist parties meant the left could never govern.
He's polling close to 20% with Maes polling at 33%, if either wasn't there Hick wouldn't have a chance. Unfortunately they seem to believe that they are the gods' gift to CO and neither is willing to step back.

I don't know that Hickenlooper wouldn't have a chance. The latest polling that I've seen has Hick polling within the margin of error of Tancredo and Maes combined, edit: one point behind in the latest Rasmussen poll.

Maes is a train wreck. How late can he bail out so that his name doesn't appear on the ballot?

It's pretty much too late for that. The R party of CO went and circled up the firing squad...

What a moron...

Here is why I say Hick wouldn't have a chance. Even with the CO GOP self immolating, and continuing a nasty primary Hick can barely get 46%.

While the two who are attacking each other with aplomb get that same 46% between them. Hick is an extremely bad candidate with some serious issues that are being ignored at the moment while the two conservatives attack each other. If one or the other of these two left the race and the focus was on Hick he'd be toast. Maes is a bad candidate as well, but he has had less people killed in Denver while he tried to hide the fact that racists attacks on whites and white-looking Hispanics was going on... He wasn't part of the worst ever snow removal in Denver (when Elbert County does better than Denver there is a real problem), he didn't give millions to extreme left "charities" then try to hide them in the cat box, etc. Hick would be toast in a two-person race even against Maes, which is saying something about Hick...
