Huffington Post Offers $100,000 for Sex Tapes, Phone Records to Destroy Glenn Beck
Monday, August 30, 2010

In the wake of Glenn Beck's hugely successful Restoring Honor rally held in Washington, D.C. this weekend, the Huffington Post has published an offer of $100,000 to anyone with evidence that would destroy Beck's reputation and take him off the political/cultural battlefield.

An essay written by Beau Friedlander, the last editor-in-chief of Air America before it shut down this year, was posted in the Politics section of the Huffington Post today with the title, $100,000 For Glenn Beck's Sex Tape.

Friedlander says he will not use his own money for the hit, but that he will "broker" the deal.

It is time to pop the tea baggers' favorite balloon (so what if it will be replaced by another?), and with that in mind I hereby offer to negotiate a $100,000 payday to the person who will come forward with a sex tape or phone records or anything else that succeeds in removing Glenn Beck from the public eye forever. I am not offering the cash myself, but I will broker the deal and/or raise the money for what you bring to the table. (And it better be good.)

Typical of the slim that passes for liberal tolerance and justice.
Character assassination is their specialty, with varying degrees success....Limbaugh, GW Bush, Rumsfeld, Rove, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Beck, Palin and now anyone associated with TeaParty gang...

They didn't authorize the post; in fact, they removed it. And the writer offered beck an apology. The day beck offers an apology to anyone he insults, it'll be one of those "man bites dog" stories.

An Apology to Glenn Beck

Earlier today I posted something on Huffington Post that was taken down by the staff there. I can accept and respect their reasons for doing that.

The post was called "$100,000 For Glenn Beck's Sex Tape." It was supposed to simply make the point that the right does not hesitate to play rough with the left, and the right is far better financed. It was glib, but finally off-kilter and misdirected.

I was actually trying to mimic what I saw as the way right wingers go about these matters, and by misapprehending the way they do things, I went too far. (I offered to broker a deal for anyone who had damaging media pertaining to Glenn Beck.)

First, I owe Glenn Beck an apology. I crossed the line. On the off chance something comes in over the transom...scratch that; I'll delete the email account. Problem solved.

I meant to tilt at a windmill in the post, and I planted my lance in the dirt.

A friend commented:

The people on the left who parrot and jerk their knees are just as much an obstacle to an outcome that benefits the maximum number of people as the "sheepies" are.

Well said, Struan. For me, it is back to the drawing board.

In other words, they took it down out of fear of being sued. You only apologized because the Huff editors made you do it. How does that crow taste?

The writer was a blogger, not Huffpo staff. He offered his satirical opinion and the staff decided it was inappropriate, so they took it down. That's a heckuva lot more decent than beck's blog, with its many lying, scurrilous comments about people he disagrees with.

So now its "satire". :)

Any citations of Beck's "lying, scurrilous comments about people he disagrees with"? :pke:

It was fun to watch 'em tapdance.....especially with their heads inserted up their rectums.....an apologizing so convincingly....

I dont care if Beck has a girlfriend or a boyfriend or anything like that. The guy is a fear monger and a hypocrate and I belive that he manipulates less intelegent people for financial gain at the expence of the American political process. To me thats much worse than if he has had a sex tape.

"Glenn Beck apparently doesn't buy into the adage that all press is good press. On Friday, the conservative host described a "Good Morning America" segment on the Lincoln Memorial rally he's holding Saturday — on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" address at the same site — as a "hatchet job" and compared it to Nazi propaganda."

..."That's what Goebbels did," Beck said, referring to Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister.

Conservative radio and TV host, Glenn Beck, is known for his outrageous rants. But, now he's in some hot water after using one of the First Daughters as his bait.

The 46 year old made some very offensive comments and mocked 11 year old, Malia.
This comes after President Obama's press conference, last Thursday, where he discussed the oil spill. Obama said Malia asked him "whether or not he plugged the hole yet".

Well Beck took that and ran.

At one point he even went as far as insulting Malia's intelligence saying, "That's the level of their education, that they're coming to - they're coming to Daddy and saying, 'Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?'"

"Fox News talk-show host Glenn Beck has outraged some Christians by asking them to leave their church if it preaches about "social justice" or "economic justice" — terms he believes could be code words for communism or Nazism.

Beck said on his March 2 TV show: "I beg you, look for the words 'social justice' or 'economic justice' on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words."

Beck also said: "Am I advising people to leave their church? Yes! If I am going to Jeremiah Wright's church (a reference to President Barack Obama's former Chicago pastor). If you have a priest that is pushing social justice, go find another parish. Go alert your bishop."

"I don't want a discounted doctor. I don't want discounted wages. I don't want any of this stuff. If I wanted to live in India, I'd live in India. I want not the Indian lifestyle, I want the American lifestyle. I'm sure, no offense to India, I'm sure it's beautiful and everything. I've heard especially this time of year, especially by the - you know that one big river they have there that sounds like a disease? Come on, it does. I mean, if somebody said, 'I'm sorry, you have a really bad case of Ganges,' you'd want Cipro."

...within the span of a few minutes, Beck implied that there are no quality medical schools in India; implied that medical care in India is a shoddy imitation of real health care; implied that the entire nation is an undeveloped backwater without even so much as indoor plumbing; and compared the Ganges River, a holy body of water for one of the world's oldest and largest religions, to a disease.

Whats you point ?

If you're trying to show Beck is absolutely right on all those quotes, we agree....

He is....there are no lies and no slurs.....

Assuming it was a legitimate offer, which apparently it wasn't, it had less to do with character assassination and more to do with justice.

Beck's speech, as with the general Repub/Conservative platform, stressed "family values". While there's nothing wrong with that there is a big problem if the person is a hypocrite. From prosecutors with "family values" hiring escorts to politicians espousing "family values" while playing footsie in washrooms investigating their past is no different than checking ones resume.

For example, let's say someone is touting fiscal responsibility, be they politicians, radio/TV personalities, newspaper columnists or other public figures. Wouldn't the public be entitled to know how they carried out their duties as the Chief Financial Officer of a past company or whether they paid their taxes on time? (Brings back memories of Joe the Plumber. I wonder what he's up to these days.)

As for Beck claiming the day he chose was coincidental as he wasn't aware of Dr. King's speech on that same date, at the same place, 47 years ago is nothing short of absurd. To imply that neither his organizers nor guest speakers would have mentioned it as events were being scheduled is nothing short of a damn lie and deserves zero credibility. So much for the man who speaks of honor. He knows not of what he speaks.

If justice to you is about eliminating hypocrites we wouldn't have a politician or anyone associated with politics left. And for sh*ts and giggles what if we went after everyone associated with being "compassionate" and show times when they were hypocrites for not being "compassionate"? That would be justice right?

I didn't know it was that day...on that date...or the location other than Washington DC....so WTF ? And moreover, I don't really give a shit, nobody OWNS that date so some other event can't take place on it...or in the Washington DC....or at any particular monument.....so F off...

To imply that neither his organizers nor guest speakers would have mentioned it as events were being scheduled is nothing short of a damn lie and deserves zero credibility. So much for the man who speaks of honor. He knows not of what he speaks.

So I repeat....
nobody OWNS that date so some other event can't take place on it...or in the Washington DC....or at any particular monument.

Do YOU have any '"family values" apple ?
Did you EVER commit a sin, in your own eyes ?
Did you EVER not live up to your "idea of family values" ?
Did you EVER lie ?
Did you EVER steal ?
Did you EVER get your brain to function ?

They don't claim to be ethical, so they aren't expected to be ethical...they get a free ride....

Maybe you didn't know the date but you're not a radio personality planning a speech.

Also, it has nothing to do with owning a location. It has to do with Beck's outright lying about not knowing. Speeches like that comprising well-known guest personalities are not organized by pointing a finger at a calender while blindfolded. There is research and more research and even more research before a date and place are chosen. Surely you're not that naive.

In case you have trouble understanding I'll spell it out for you. It was not a coincidence.

Do YOU have any '"family values" apple ?

HAHAHAHAHA. Talk about functioning brains. Anyone who believes the exact date and place was a coincidence has no brain at all. As to values it's easy to determine the values of anyone who supports someone blatantly lying about it.

Any questions?

No, that's what you think.

When someone claims to stand for something I expect they do stand for it. Is that way of thinking strange to you?
