If I've said it once, I've said it a million times: Jiang doesn't understand who or what Trump is. Trump is NOT a grand strategic thinker and planner. Trump is America's id. Whatever happens as a knock-on effect of his rambling around in Beijing and his blundering in Tehran is entirely fortuitous and NOT--I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH--NOT the result of some grand strategic design, unfortunately.
