FACT CHECK: Islam already lives near ground zero

You're a nutjob, Dix; you hardly type a single post without directly saying or implying that Muslim Americans are something less than regular Americans. You've called them murderers, radicals, extremists, zealots and said many times that "they're the ones who attacked us!"

You've really lost your mind to deny that...

I have NEVER made such a statement you retarded fuckwit! NEVER!!!

I have said that RADICAL Muslims are not Americans and should be killed. They HAVE attacked us, numerous times, most notably on 9/11/01! You want to take my sentiments towards sworn enemies of our country, and pervert it into bigotry toward Americans who happen to be Muslim, and I am not letting you get away with that sleazy underhanded tactic. Show me where I have EVER made the statements you claim, or shut your blathering nonsensical pie hole!

Yes, the obvious underlying motive is that Republicans like to have a wedge issue they can use to divide the country during election cycles.

The planned Community Center is that wedge issue for the midterm elections.

The issue was raised first by locals and 9/11 survivors and victims families...the issue went national and numerous people including Muslim American's have come out in oposition to it.

That 68% of Americans think the mosque should be built elsewhere proves this is not a "GOP" controversy.

Oh wow how fucking surprising the empty headed dorkpuss pulls the race card from his deck of specious cards!

Again fuckwad, no one is objecting to the erection of a mosque or event center...only the location in this instance.

Assholes like you make impotent the term racist.

Really?

Just the location?

Then why all the fuss in Murfreesboro, Tennessee?

Racists there are trying to keep a Mosque from being built.

What about Sheboygan, Wisconsin?

Residents there are upset Muslims want to build a Mosque.

So again I ask, what's REALLY the problem with all you people?

BS! Those behind this are arguing against what they call Islamization of America. They are using the location as a means to foment hatred.

More attempts to confuse the argument with straw man dilemas to obfuscate the issue.

The issue is not what others may be doing at other locations. The issue is this location and this mosque. It is this mosque that has 68% of American's against it BECAUSE of 9/11.

The problem with US people is, radical Islam is at war with America and wants to destroy it, apparently just as badly as the Democrats do! We don't like it. We want to protect what we have here, and not allow it to be destroyed, by radical Muslims, or by low-life pond scum democrats!

Some behind it may have those feelings...but NOT the majority or even a distinct minority! 68% of Americans do not wish for the mosque to be built at this location...

What does that have to do with a community center several blocks from the WTC, and owned and operated by american muslims?

Your contention is that these american muslims want to destroy america?

do you know how freaking crazy you and your merry band of wingnuts sound?

zappa, oncelear, and Rstringfield are right. This isn't about a community center in manhattan. This is about xenophobia, bigotry, and paranoia about muslims - even american muslims.

Why don't you wingnust just admit that, instead of coming up with laughable excuses for what the mathematical radius of "hallowed ground" is?

Definitely, not an isolated instance.

Florence, Kentucky.

Kentucky mosque protester Mark Hallenberg is also a supporter of the Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) group led by Pamela Geller.

The Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) group is the leading organization behind the planned September 11, 2010 protest against the 51 Park Place Islamic Center in New York. SIOA’s top leaders have also been active in mosque protests in Staten Island. After the recent decision not to sell land to a mosque in Staten Island, SIOA leaders and supporters claimed victory, with SIOA supproters stating: “SIOA is mighty and growing stronger every minute. The evil comes out of the mosques, now and in Mohammed’s time. Close and dismantle ALL mosques, mosques have no place in America the Free….One down and so many more to go.”

R.E.A.L. has reported that the SIOA’s Executive Director seeks to recruit members and supports the violent English Defence League group. SIOA supporters have promoted the plan for a “Burn A Qur’an Day,” and call for the criminalization of Islam in America.

Bridgeport, Connecticut
Charlotte, North Carolina

On Friday, August 6, 2010, the Christian group "Operation Save America (OSA)" held a protest outside of the Masjid An-Noor mosque in Bridgeport, Connecticut carrying signs that state "Islam is a lie."

The Connecticut Post stated that "Flip Benham, of Dallas, Texas, organizer of the protest, was yelling at the worshipers with a bullhorn." AP reported that the protesters were"yelling what mosque members described as hate-filled slogans." NBC Connecticut reported that "Muslim leaders in Connecticut are asking police to ensure that they can worship without being harassed after a group was confronted on Friday."

On July 23, 2010, the same OSA group led a protest against a Charlotte, North Carolina mosque as Muslims were going to Friday prayers to pass out tracts and broadcast over their sound system that "Islam is a lie." The OSA Christian group promoted the Charlotte mosque protest on their web site as "The Slaying of Allah - We Came to Slay Your False God."

The OSA group is also promoting the Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) planned September 11, 2010 protest in New York City against the Park Place Islamic center. (See OSA video.) The OSA's Flip Benham is urging "thousands" of Christians to protest the NYC Islamic Center in September.

You know what asswipe... you're absolutely right! We just HATE people! That's what's wrong with us! We just, for no reason but spiteful bigotry, HATE radical Islam! We're all paranoid xenophobes, who want to cling to our guns and our god, and HATE people who are different than us! That's the size of it, as you've deduced! NOW... Go trot your happy little democrat ass out there, and RUN on THAT! You go out there and tell EVERYBODY how the right are a bunch of racist homophobic intolerant bigots, and wait for the election results to come rolling in! I'm sure you're going to have a very good election year with THAT message! GO FOR IT! ....GO ON.... NOW!

"Park51, originally named Cordoba House .....(the alleged "ground zero mosque") controversy was sparked from a campaign launched by Pamela Geller, a right-wing, anti-Muslim blogger and founder of the group "Stop Islamization of America".[10][13] The campaign then gained wide recognition when it was publicized by New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser."[10]

OSA appears to be a very politicised group...so what! They are but one voice against the GZM

Do OSA members carry signs like these?

SIOA is the primary group that has made Park-51 an issue. They have ties to most of these other protests, that have nothing to do with being near "Ground Zero." Gingrich and others quote and praise these nuts and rely on them for their talking points.

The people holding the signs in your picture have nothing to do with this issue and those emulating them are nothing but anti-American bigots.

See? There you go. The people behind this community center - again, Americans - are "radical Islam."

Now, go all schizophrenic again, and tell me that you never said that.

The people holding these signs are protesters...certainly more nutty and deranged then SIOA or OSA who do not call for butchering, head chopping death. They are merely people free to exercise there freedom of speech.

These two groups together, no matter how nutty you claim they are, do not make up a significant number of those 68% opposed...I had not even heard of either group until you mentioned them.

Apparently 6 stories of the GZM are to be used for the Shariah Index Project

By the end of this year, it expects to release the results of an unprecedented poll, conducted with the Gallup Organisation, that asked people in 44 majority-Muslim nations how well they felt their country complied with Islamic principles.

“It will create an annual rating, a score to rate countries on how compliant they are,” said Imam Feisal.

“And we’d like to index both Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and non-OIC countries, because we know some non-OIC countries will score higher than some OIC members on some principles like justice, protection of minorities and so on.”

Imam Feisal admitted the project was ambitious, with difficulties including the technicalities of conducting such a broad poll, and of finding consistent sources of funding for such an expensive process.

Determining Islamic principles had been the easy part, he said.

In classical Islamic jurisprudence the ruler must be someone who is “wise and upholds the Shariah”, he explained.

“Early scholars debated a third point: whether the ruler must also be pious.

“And the answer is no. As long as the ruler is committed to upholding the Shariah, piety should not be a hurdle to reigning over people.

“Though on this point in particular there was a big split with the Shia, who disagree.”

He added that measuring the dedication and devotion of a person was too difficult to be done by a poll.

The pillars of Shariah are based on five – some say six sacrosanct rights and principles. Breaching any of them is considered a major sin that requires

See? There you go. The people behind this community center - again, Americans - are "radical Islam."

Now, go all schizophrenic again, and tell me that you never said that.

The funding is going to come from Saudi Arabia and Iran, last I checked, those aren't Americans. It's being headed by a man who says America should be Sharia compliant, and that is not an American ideal. American moderate Muslims are condemning the plan, and saying that it will be viewed by radical elements of their religion, as a symbol of conquest, which is confirmed by the world history of Islam. Imam Rauf says his intention is "outreach" yet it is clear this will not be outreach at all, it will generate outrage instead.

Tell ya what? Why don't I go out and get me a great big giant Confederate flag, and purchase the lot across from the Loraine Motel in Memphis, where Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated, and erect my giant flag, and tell people that it's for the purpose of "outreach?" Would you accept my assertion?

Founders of SIOA have advocated violence and genocide against Muslims. You need the quote from Jay again?

These two groups together, no matter how nutty you claim they are, do not make up a significant number of those 68% opposed...I had not even heard of either group until you mentioned them.

I don't care if you have heard of them or not. They are a big part of why this became an issue.
