The US Army rejected most people who tried to enlist during WWII in favor of drafting people.
The Great Depression started 12 years before America's entry into WWII. During most of the Great Depression the US Army was tiny, and so did not want many people to sign up. Later, it decided to staff up through the draft to allow it to organize its own needs.
The Great Depression was caused partly by deflation. They were destroying money, so not creating money for either the poor or the rich. When FDR started printing money to reverse the deflation, he targeted the poor for help, not the rich.
"Some"? OK.
Well, "some" people agree with you, but that hardly makes it "no question", or a "matter of historical record."
Even Freedman accepted that "we are all Keynesian now." Basically, every economist accepts most of the Keynesian argument.
FDR was elected by a majority of the popular vote four times in a row. trump has never gotten a majority of the popular vote. FDR's policies are conventional wisdom now. trump is openly mocked by most Americans.
To call people who agree with FDR "radicalized drones" is to move the Overton Window an insane amount.
