US intelligence indicates limited new damage to Iran's nuclear program, sources say

WASHINGTON, May 4 (Reuters) - U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that the time Iran would need to build a nuclear weapon has not changed since last summer, when analysts estimated that a U.S.-Israeli attack had pushed back the timeline to up to a year, according to three sources familiar ‌with the matter.

The assessments of Tehran's nuclear program remain broadly unchanged even after two months of a war that U.S. President Donald Trump launched in part to stop the Islamic Republic from developing a nuclear bomb.

The unchanged timeline suggests that significantly impeding Tehran's nuclear program may require destroying or removing Iran's remaining stockpile of highly enriched uranium, or HEU.

The war has stalled since the U.S. and Iran agreed an April 7 truce to pursue peace. Tensions remain high as both sides appear deeply divided, and as Iran has choked traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, blocking some 20% of world oil supplies and igniting a global energy crisis.

How many times have you been lied to by your own government?
The problem is way worse than that, as Ray McGovern and several others on my grapevine talk about constantly.....the experts have been removed from Washington and replaced with idiologs, and those who tell uncomfortable truths are hurt as SOP......intelligence assessments now tend to be wishful thinking not reality.

Apparently, that would be very hard to do, even with a competent Commander in Chief. If the Persian people are willing to match their nuclear attack capability to ours, meaning their entire existence would indeed be ended as Trump once insanely promised, and also meaning that ours, or more likely our allies', would also be significantly damaged, that's their call, not ours. What could any POTUS do about it?

By the way, I was a guest on this website for a long time before I joined, although I didn't realize that some forums like The War Zone weren't visible to me. In any case, I remember that you used to go with a Russian flag picture. What happened with that? You've gone uber-generic!

That sounds like a tRumped up excuse to continue the war.

Pun very much intended.

Wait a minute, how can there be even limited damage on something that was obliviated last year?

Our Secretary of War doesn’t even know what type of guns are on the Iranian boats. There is so much incompetence in this administration.

Too right you are.
Kegsbreath and Trump made it sound eight weeks ago like the Iranian military had been totally destroyed and all we were waiting for was their offer of unconditional surrender.

How exactly would the little Goebbels of the DNC Propaganda Corps know this?

Have the terrorists invited nuclear inspectors in?

Oh right, they are repeating what the Iranian government is telling them...

Such clowns, you included.

Even you in China know that "anonymous sources" = "we just made shit up."

I saw a nuclear scientist on TV explaining that the Fat Boy , used on Japan was at 60 percent. More spinning would allow you to make a smaller bomb, easier to build and transport.
