For a very long time I have listened to leftists say that there is nothing more important than democracy in the US. They say that under President Donald Trump democracy is under threat and that he is going to take it away and we are going to lose it forever.

They paint a very dire picture.

So with that said is there anything you wouldn’t do to protect democracy? How far will you go to protect it?

Just trying to gauge how serious you are about this or if it is just rhetorical bullshit.

Because if you really believe these things, there should be nothing you personally wouldn’t do.

So far, lefties have tried to kill the sitting president three times. I would say that is quite the statement.

1. The July 13, 2024 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania​

  • This was a real, confirmed assassination attempt.
  • The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
  • As of the latest reporting, investigators have not publicly tied him to any left‑wing political organization.
  • His motive has not been officially classified as left‑wing, right‑wing, or ideological.
So this event is real, but not confirmed to be politically left‑aligned.


2. The 2016 Las Vegas rally incident​

  • A British man, Michael Sandford, attempted to grab a police officer’s gun at a Trump rally.
  • Court records and reporting at the time did not identify him as a left‑wing extremist.
  • He had a history of mental health issues.
  • No political ideology was established as the motive.
This event is real, but not tied to left‑wing ideology.


3. No third verified assassination attempt​

There is no third confirmed attempt recognized by:

  • The Secret Service
  • FBI
  • Major news outlets
  • Court records
Claims of a “third attempt” usually come from:

Leftist. Yes. I think none of them were right wingers. As for "we", you would probably redefine it seven times before simply just admitting that they were leftists. So "we" probably define things a bit differently.

Stupid fucking loaded question.

This is what you do to protect this nation’s democracy. Quit electing people like Trump who have complete disregard for the Constitution, rule of law, due process and the institutions that protect all of us. That includes weaponization of the DOJ and Homeland Security. Toss in a respect for the constitutional balance of power between the three branches.

As poor a president as Bush II was, at least he had a respect for all of those. Trump and his followers have none.

That doesn’t seem very definitive. Nice platitudes but it doesn’t look like you are really willing to put things on the line are you?

Maybe what you say is complete bullshit and you really don’t believe it?

Because if it were really as bad as you say I would think you would want to do more than that
 
Personally I think true pure democracy should be under attack. I hate pure democracy. It is nothing more than mob rule. 51% gets to decide for everyone else? No thank you. I say attack that.
