Obama has not said he belives this Mosque should be build in this spot...

He did not say that.... Just no way did he say that... use his words, not your interpertation of what he ment. What he said was...

"Time and again, the American people have demonstrated that we can work through these issues, and stay true to our core values and emerge stronger for it. So it must be and will be today."
He used exactly those words, "Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground."

He said those words just before he said, “But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances."

what do YOU think he meant? he is talking about the mosque and those who oppose it, he is saying we must remain true to american values and allow the mosque to be built....

its just funny how hard you try and make it out not to be hallowed ground when your dear leader disagrees with you :)

It really isn't all that difficult to make the location of the proposed project not "hallowed ground." I mean, take a spin to the location on google maps for Christ's sake.

Ground Zero may be hallowed ground, I'm not authority on the matter, but the location of the project sure as shit ain't.

Jarod, I don't know why you're obsessing so much over what Obama said. On this issue, his interjections have been a distraction from the larger debate on principle.

Is prejudice borne of tragedy acceptable prejudice?

Its hard to prove a negative, they are saying he was cheerleading the mosque and saying that it should be built in the proposed cite...

I cant prove he did not say that, but they could prove he did, by giving us the quote.... and a cite...

I'm saying post that same quote you've posted maybe a dozen times already.

Anyone who follows politics knows you have to often read between the lines of what someone is saying. That is par for the course. Often it is called 'diplomatic speak'.

To me working through issues calls for give and take from both sides... and that if we do that we will be stronger in the end...

you idiot...what do you think he means? explain his words since you claim it doesn't mean what i say it says....you're a supposed lawyer, surely you know how to interpret words...

yes he did...he said it is american to support this

stop being such a hack you moron

"This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.... Mr. Gingrich said that the proposed Cordoba community center would be a symbol of Muslim "triumphalism" and that building it near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks "would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust museum." CNN news performer Erick Erickson later in twitter compared it to America supporting "human sacrifice" by the Church of Satan. If Republicans don't like separation of Church and State then why don't they simply propose that we throw out the Bill of Rights that our founders fought and died for. On 9/11 there were Muslims, Jews, Christians and atheists killed as well as other religions. It wasn't anymore an attack by Islam, then Timothy McVeigh blowing up the Oklahoma federal Building was an attack by Christianity. It wasn't war, It was a crime, and it's funders and collaborators should have been hunted down and thrown in jail by international police forces. Then we'd have closure instead of endless war....
The big picture here is that President Obama has an opportunity to help heal this nation by sticking to his words of truth Friday night and leading this nation and world towards peace and embrace the Cordoba House. It was an opportunity to revisit the time after 9/11 when George Bush had an opportunity unite this country and instead he declared war."

Gingrich and the rest of the Republicon party will use any excuse to spread fear. It's the only card they have.

You're smart often, but you're dumb on this. Islam is an ideology of murder and forced conversion. Just research it. The terrorists aren't perverting islam.

And if you say we should then throw out christianity and judaism, im fine with that.

Don't let your justified hatred of the right make you love theocracy.:)

ITs just not true...

"Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country."

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

But what he posted is what Obama said before this part. Where he established his justification for that statement. He began by establishing it is our principled obligation to build this mosque on hallowed ground, as a show of our religious tolerance and religious freedoms. He is clearly making the point that he believes, not only is it legal to allow them to build it there, it's fitting and appropriate it should be built there.

Never thought I'd see the day when a rightie bragged about being in step w/ the MSM.

Me? I'd rather be in step with Madison, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, et al.

Reminds me of the pinhead Democrats trying to curtail gun rights, as they enact restrictions on those rights spite of the 2nd Amendment for the last 50 years....

But in reality, no conservative is trying to claim the mulsims don't have the RIGHT to built the mosque, after all, there are thousands of them all over the country.....so you pinheads are just regurgitating you lies as usual....

Saying it would be a symbol of Muslim "triumphalism" and that building it near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks "would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust museum." is not even close to denying their right to build it....but then I'm dealing with pinheads so I understand the confusion and I'm used to the lies.
