Reid: Build mosque elsewhere

(AP) – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON — The Senate's top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.

In a statement, Reid said the first amendment protects freedom of religion and he respects that, but the mosque should be built somewhere else.

Critics have said the location of the mosque is insensitive because the terrorists who struck were Islamic extremists.

Reid is in a tight campaign for re-election in Nevada. His opponent, Republican Sharron Angle, earlier in the day called for Reid to say whether he agreed with Obama.

Desperate times and all that~~~

YES seriously, what has Reid said that was inconsistant with what Obama said?

You aint got anything!

Jesus dude. Obama said he wouldn't comment on whether he thought it should be there or not. Reid said he thought it shouldn't be there. You think that is the same?

Quit being a dumb ass.

So they could agree for all we know because Obama has refused to comment on his personal opinion.

Thats my whole point, Obama has not said the Mosque should be build in that spot. You are the first voice of reason yet...

Right?

Right?

The whole point is that Obama is one big giant waffle on the subject!!!!

No one has said that the mosque could not be built legally so president obvious speaks to a muslim audience to score points and then the next day refuses to comment on, in his words, "the wisdom of building it"...like WOW what a coward!!!

Are you quoting Obama with, "the wisdom of building it"?

What did Obama say that is a waffle? Show me the words that are a waffle?

The audience he spoke so powerfully too were muslim...the very next day 1000 miles away when asked about his support when so many Americans were against it he said:

“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there,” Obama continued. “I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That’s what our country is about. And I think it’s very important as difficult as some of these issues are that we stay focused on who we are as a people and what our values are all about.”

Since no one protesting the Mosque is challenging its legality the statment made to an audience of muslims was lame unless he was also offering his support. To then be afraid to state his opinion on "its" wisdom is cowardly and makes his position that of a waffle.

So he made two statements, both completly consistant with each other, and because of who the audience was, you call that a waffle?

Congradulations, you have made the best argument yet, Still I'd hardly call it a waffle, and it is clearly not support for building the Mosque.

Im not being sarcastic when I say, you have made a legitatmate argument and are the only one who has even attempted that.

Yeah I do! How easy to stand in front of Muslims and seeming provide support and then the next day with the REAL question put to him he back tracks with a statement that basically communicates that he thinks it unwise to build the Mosque there...I guarentee the implications are not lost on Muslim's...only on puddin' headed partisan sheeple like you.

So your argument is based on what you believe he was implying, not based on the words he said???
