Best post I've read here in months!
As close to the truth as you can get.
What say ye right wingers?
I can hear them now, 'Poor old David Stockman, so senile at such a young age.'
LOL!
One of the best articles linked to this site EVER. But it will be ignored.
I read it. I don't know, the guy makes some points but I have trouble understanding it in the sense he is writing like what the GOP did exists in a vacuum like they were the one absolute ruling party for 40 years and there was no one else involved.
"Please listen with an open mind, no matter your party affiliation: This makes for a powerful history lesson, because it exposes how both parties are responsible for destroying the U.S. economy. Listen closely..."

The GOP were his bretheren. Trying to talk Dems out of deficit spending is like trying to talk a goat out of shitting whereever he shits. He has no control of it. Dems are going to spend lots of money. I find it really interesting that Republicans have not gone back and repudiated their stand that "Deficits don't matter if they come from tax cuts." Extending the Bush tax cuts right now will add billions to the deficit. Deificits do matter. There needs to be a republican that comes out and says, we are cutting everything. We are leaving Iraq and Afghanistan, not because WE have failed there but because we are getting no bang for our buck. The soldiers have not failed us the Iraqi's, Afghans and Pakistanis have failed us. It is time for austerity, it is time to tighten our belts. Economies are cyclic and don't always grow. When they fail to grow we have to prune them back so they start up again. Fuck sake, where is Chauncy the Gardner when you need him?I read it. LOL!
I think he's in Texas.
I might have the world's largest orgasm if the GOP came out and said they would cut everything. I would love for them to be the real party of no. I don't think they have the balls to do it but...
Except at some point class warfare is going to slip it's partisan reins and fly at the wealthy from all different sides. Granted, no one works because they want to stay poor or be reasonably comfortable, but if the working class continues to see their wages fall AND the wealthy keep getting tax breaks that benefit only them, it is going to be all revolt against the monied class in this country.I agree with stages 1 and 2, which is damning enough.
Stage 3 is retarded, because calling investment capitalism "unproductive" is retarded. I could say "fuck manufacturing," and it would be just as meaningless.
Stage 4 pretends that class warfare is new (its been a bedrock of American politics as long as the Democratic Party has existed, and was a huge part of 19th Century populism), and presumes that something different will happen this time that didn't happen in the past. There's absolutely no validity for anything along this point.
Holy shit, I watched Being There on TV only last week. I hadn't seen it for ages and I had forgotten how fucking amazing it is, it's nice to know that other people appreciate it as well.
