US gas hits $4 as Trump tells nations to get their own oil

I have heard that excuse about taxes causing blue state gas prices more but our total tax (It's displayed on the pump) is 56 cents. Assuming these other states have some sort of tax lets say 30 cents the 25 cent higher tax does not explain the 2 dollar a gallon more. There is something else going on here.
So now it's blue state's taxes, talk about creative excuses.

I'm sure you believe that... They're going to need a lot of money.... they have to rebuild their entire world....
Rebuild their whole world? Describe what that means, other than you are still stupid enough to take Trump's words at face value. Can you not understand he lies every time he talks ? You dumbos have accepted outrageous hyperbole as normal and even factual.
Your proper response should be " I wonder if that is true. I will wait until I have more evidence."

it is open as a toll road being controlled by Iran and if you are a nation friendly with Iran or willing to pay the Oil Toll they are demanding they allow you pass thru.

That is new power and significant one Trump gave Iran that gives them more leverage over the world than they had prior to his war.
Nope. Iran is not allowed to charge a toll. Lie. Synthesis.

The Strait is open.

They have a bit of clean up to do..... Do you disagree?

Bingo.

Yeah, that's just nuts. I'd hate to be paying that much in taxes for a gallon of gas. Here in Wisconsin, it's nowhere near that bad (we're "average" when it comes to gas taxes). Here, gas is taxed $0.513/gallon. This amount consists of the $0.184 federal tax, a $0.309 state excise tax, and a $0.02 petroleum inspection fee, so it's really only $0.329/gal in state taxes.

In my neck of the woods, Kwik Trip (incl. the particular local station that I use to track gas prices) is playing their stupid game atm in which they jack gas prices up for a few days just for the heck of it (which they then bring back down a number of days later), so that station is currently at $3.899/gallon, however, at the local Woodmans (and the local Costco), gas is currently $3.499/gallon, which is right in line with where gas prices were here ON AVERAGE during about 75% of the Autopen's illegitimate term.

Ugh.... completely NUTTERS they are.....
Looks like I'll be heading out your way this summer. Up towards Kaukauna.

^Too invested in "Orange Man Bad" to realize every president since Ford should have done this.
Know what's not happening, knucklehead? Gas lines and 1/2 tank rationing in America.
It IS happening in China, though. As a matter of fact, Iran attacked a tanker bound for China.
(yesterday or the day before)
Heh. China probably tried price controls, similar to what Carter did. Price controls never work. They ALWAYS cause shortages.

You just locked yourself in another paradox, Sybil. You cannot argue both sides of a paradox.

You must live in a state that taxes the ever loving PISS out of it then. Diesel around my neck of the woods is currently running around $4.50/gallon.

It will. Remember, it's only been a month. I expect it to last another 2-4 weeks and then be over with. Gas and diesel prices will start coming down again after that.

It'll be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if the Donkeys get a majority in the House (they SHOULDN'T though, if Team Elephant weren't controlled opposition, but it is what it is). The Elephants should retain a majority in the Senate, though, and that's the more important one.

True. They've already forgotten just how high gas prices spiked in 2022, and just how high gas prices were on average from early 2021-early 2024. They also forget that non-Trump wars and military operations would commonly last for YEARS instead of a handful of days/weeks.
Diesel prices are generally higher due to refining capacity.

With limited refining capacity, and with demand being higher for gasoline, refineries crack longer molecules into smaller ones to improve gasoline yield, meaning there are less of these longer molecules available for diesel.

Gasoline is primarily septane and octane, while diesel is primarily dectane on up to duo-dectane.

Diesel engines use a much higher compression ratio, requiring the longer molecules to run properly. Their advantage is that they are simpler engines, and they have higher torque than gasoline engines. Gasoline engines are better at efficiency, but offer lower torque.

Get off magat media you babbling idiot and read something else.
Magat is not a word. What is 'magat media'?
Even Trump is not denying this and is instead telling the countries and shippers to just be brave and go through and just accept any losses you suffer.
The Strait is open, Kewpie.
"...As of late March and early April 2026, Iran has effectively established de facto control over the Strait of Hormuz, acting as a gatekeeper for the vital waterway. Following tensions with the US and Israel, Iranian forces are selectively allowing transit, charging fees, and restricting vessels deemed "hostile," creating a significant, ongoing disruption to global shipping..."
