Iran rejects Trump plan to end war and issues its own demands, state TV reports

Iran has informed the U.S. through intermediaries that it rejects the Trump administration's 15-point proposal for negotiations, Iran's English-language Press TV reported on Wednesday.

Why it matters: The U.S. offer includes many elements Tehran has repeatedly opposed, but rejecting it outright could increase the risk of a major escalation — including the possibility Trump will revive his threat to destroy Iranian power plants.

  • The Iranian position, which was reported in other Iranian and pro-Iran media outlets in the region, could take the U.S. push for in-person peace talks this week off the table for now.
What they're saying: A senior Iranian official told Press TV the U.S. terms were "excessive" and the war would only end "on Tehran's own terms and timeline."

  • The Iranian official told Press TV that Tehran saw the latest proposal by the Trump administration to hold negotiations "as a ploy."
  • Axios reported overnight that Iran had told the mediators it suspected Trump's push for peace talks was a ruse, given the U.S. is currently sending thousands of troops to the region.
Press TV reported that Iran has five conditions for a ceasefire and ending the war:

  • Complete halting of attacks and assassinations by the U.S. and Israel.
  • The establishment of mechanisms to ensure the war doesn't resume.
  • Compensation for the damages caused during the war.
  • Halting all U.S. and Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.
  • Receiving international recognition and guarantees for Iran's authority over the St

Iranians do not feel they have any reason to trust Trump to negotiate in good faith. Trump twice authorized sneak attacks on them while they were sitting at the bargaining table with TrumpCo. officials.

This is not a good situation.
You are correct. It is NOT a good situation.
Not sure how Trump is going to extricate himself from this mess...but I wish he would just blame Joe Biden or Barack Obama; declare victory; and get the hell out of there. If he escalates, he should be impeached, convicted, and removed from office.

Trump is probably going to cut and and run and just unilaterally declare 'victory'

WAIT... WHAT...

Trump told us Iran would have to unconditionally surrender.

Trump told us Iran has 24 hours to act or he would destroy their electrical facilities.

Trump told us Iran was already defeated, over and over....

So how is it that Iran is the one making the demands and laying down the terms of surrender they will accept from the US to end this war...

At least it seems that NOW Trump has learned the value of having allies that he prior claimed the US did not need, EVER....

This is where the Magats on this forum jump in and start throwing out threats of why these countries MUST now jump in and bailout Trump and Magats after them starting a war with no consultation to others, no buy in from Allies and the allies now being told 'you are the ones who need the Strait so it is on you to clean it up'.

Why? Because Trump knows if the US is forced to do all the policing of the Strait it will be US soldiers only, who are killed by Iran attacks. The US wants to minimize US deaths and spread them around to allies to minimize them.
