No Bambi for me, Thank you... I just don't care for it....

I always disliked venison. It was gamey, tasted like moldy fish. UNTIL a friend field dressed a dear properly. It turns out that the deer must be bled immediately. Turns out the gamey flavor was from hauling the carcase out of the woods, driving home, and dressing it several hours later. Venison tenderloin from a properly butchered deer is one of the best cuts of meat there is.

My dad hung Bambi in the garage for a month or 2 until it started smelling like cheese. I dry all my meat for a few days even if it's only a one pound steak.

No. The gamey flavor comes from them knowing they're going to die and getting all adrenalized up.
If you hit them in the head with an instant shutdown, that doesn't happen. That's facts.
You hit them in the lungs and they run for a little bit mortally wounded and they know it? Gonna be gamey.
