Judge blocks parts of Arizona immigration law

But they only inquire into status after being picked up for another reason. that's the reality of this situation.

Oh no, Asshat, didn't you hear what El Cabong said? Now they won't have to worry about "police running around asking brown people for their papers". So, of course that was what was happening before, right?

Am I to interpret this name as an insult?

I have a Hispanic nom de plume so you feel justified in applying a racist streotype?

I have not insulted you, why do you seek to insult me?

No, it is not a racist stereotype. I have no idea what you ethnic background or makeup is.

El Cabon was a cartoon character. I added the 'g' for giggles.

No, there is no 'El Cabon'.

There is an El Kabong cartoon, which portrays a Mexican as a sterotype to be ridiculed. Many Hispanics find these types of portrayal offensive, as I am certain you know.

Was that your intent?

SB1070 was racist. It opened the door for, and even mandated, racial profiling, and was passed as a result of the wholesale dehumanization of immigrants.

Do you know who drafted SB1070?

You're nothing but a troll that want's to cause problems.
SB 1070 did not mandate racial profiling and I challange you to show any part of it that does so.

SB1070

I know what "reasonable suspicion" is, now tell me, in your opinion, what would amount to reasonable suspicion that a person is not in the country legally?

OH-MAYBE; when they're stopped for a traffic violation and they have no drivers liscense.

He doesn't have a sign on him that says "ridicule me". Having an accent is not really ridicule.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Legal immigrants are required to carry their identification at all times.

8 United States Code Section 1304(e) requires legal immigrants to carry those papers, this law has been in effect since 1940.

Here is the wording:

The Arizona law doesn't say they have to carry papers, it says if an alien "is in violation of" and lists this particular code.

I think the confusion is coming from the word "immigrant".
Once a person becomes a US citizen, they are no longer considered an immigrant and therefore would not fall under this requirement.

You want to live in a place where racial profiling has become legal?

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has stated publicly that SB 1070 was a “racist law,” and said he would not comply with it.

He is then in violation of the law and has subjected himself to not only disciplianary action; but also being fired from his job.

My mistake, it was El Kabong.

You actually find a cartoon like that offensive? Are you a horse with a mask and guitar? No, I had no idea anyone was actually offended by Quick Draw McGraw.

You might consider growing thicker skin, so as to avoid being offended so easily.

SB1070

I have not insulted you, why insult me?

You have no basis for interpreting motivation in discusssing this issue. If you are unable to debate without using ad hominem attacks, then perhaps you should refrain from engaging in this topic.

Again: "FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED..."

The issue lies in the interpretation of "reasonable suspicion".

That's not the point and it's irrelevent anyways. Please explain to me what problem this law in Arizona fixes? It appears to me that it's not soving problems but creating them.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm; let's see.

It has been reported that there have been a reduction in those apprehended by the Border Patrol, crossing into AZ.
There was a news article, regarding illegals leaving AZ and moving to other States.
Schools have reported a decrease in enrollment, that appears to be in correlation of illegals leaving AZ.

So, what problems do you see that it's creating?
