My son drove from Dearborn to Traverse City this weekend. He made one stop each way and charged while having lunch. He did not wait at all. The problem is you have never had an EV. You are fabricating stories to back your lack of knowledge and experience. China is creating better EVs and better EV structures. They will be the auto companies of the future. You will wonder what happened. People like you are the problem and prevent the solution. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/ele...-state-ev-coming-to-roads-in-2026/ar-AA1UG3gAThat Motor Trash article is your counter argument? Did you read it? It reads like a freshman level liberal arts report. There wasn't anything actually quantitative or scientific in it. Until you can talk about the watt density of energy in a battery, it's capacity in watt-hours and cycle lifetime, you got nothing but propaganda going.
Batteries cannot, and never will, exceed the laws of chemistry or physics. They cannot become perpetual motion machines.

That video--by an actual engineer, not a liberal arts graduate writing an article based on bullshit--shows why EV's suck. Even if you are able to make a better battery, the weight of that better battery still is prohibitive. That's because the chemistry of batteries make them low density compared to things like gasoline.
I get it. You're a scientific illiterate that believes in ancient aliens and the power of healing crystals. You read some article by another scientific illiterate in liberal arts, and you think, "Wow! The EV battery problem is solved!" I read it and think, Oh fuck, here we go again with some 'tard that is listening to the latest snake oil salesman on how batteries suddenly are ten times more powerful than ever before...
Anecdote is not evidence. I can tell you that a few months back I drove from Las Cruces New Mexico back to Phoenix AZ via Socorro NM and then old US 60 to Payson then Phoenix AZ. You can't drive that route in an EV, period. There are zero charging stations along something like 80% + of that route. When you leave Magdelana NM headed west, there isn't even much in the way of civilization until you hit Springerville in Arizona. My son drove from Dearborn to Traverse City this weekend. Anecdote is evidence. It shows that Evs are good for longer distances. It is the reality of EVs, not your fanciful protestations. Charging is becoming no problem. Rapid chargers charge during lunch . China can force their population to use EV's--as California and a few other blue Democrat run states are trying to do--but the US population as a whole won't be forced into them by government fiat. That's clear from the economic disaster forced on US car makers by the Bribem administration. Ford and GM lost billions last year from near non-existent EV sales. Tesla's market if flat. Other makers like Rivian are teetering on bankruptcy.

So, what China, or Europe for that matter, does isn't necessarily what the US will do. In the Western half of the US, EV's are near total loser. They don't work for the people living there.
Nope. And it doesn't show that EV's are good for longer distances, only that they can do longer distances if the infrastructure is in place to support them and working. Charging is a problem, particularly in the Middle-of-Nowhere. So, what works in the Eastern US doesn't mean it works in the West where things are far more spread out and there are long stretches of road with nothing on them whatsoever.Anecdote is evidence. I'd drive away from Dearborn too if I were him.My son drove from Dearborn to Traverse City this weekend.
That's two more stops than I would've made in my ICE vehicle for that same trip, but alrighty. He made one stop each way
Yup... I suppose you gotta find something to do while you're waiting and waiting and waiting for your damn EV to refuel.and charged while having lunch.
Ummmmm, you literally just told me that he had lunch while his EV was charging. That's called WAITING, Nordy. He did not wait at all.
Actually, I'm quite ESTATIC that I've never had an EV. Here in southern WI, we just got done experiencing a -40deg F wind chill (-20deg F low temp). EV's don't like that sort of weather very much. Even today (and for the rest of this week), high temps are mostly in the single digits and low temps are mostly in single digit negatives. COLD!!! BRRRRRR!!!The problem is you have never had an EV.
That's YOU, Nordy. You are fabricating stories to back your lack of knowledge and experience.
No. China is simply exploiting the 'climate crisis' religion of Europe/Australia/New Zealand/Canada/USA Democrats/etc. Those countries (thankfully not the USA atm due to Trump's smart leadership) are currently destroying their own auto industries by subsidizing China (via "carbon credit" purchases) to flood their domestic markets with cheap EVs.China is creating better EVs and better EV structures.

Here in the Midwest region of the US, EV's are a near total loser also (and they likewise don't work for the people living here). Our Winters can be quite harsh. We also use road salt, which will damage the battery pack casing (and the battery pack itself!). We also, often enough, experience flooding (usually during the Spring). In the Western half of the US, EV's are near total loser. They don't work for the people living there.
Your story showed me the exact opposite, actually. It showed me that you can't even drive 260 miles without having to frantically search around for an outlet to plug into and then bum around for an hour while waiting and waiting and waiting for a partial refuel.Anecdote is evidence. It shows that Evs are good for longer distances.
You continuously ignore the reality of EVs.It is the reality of EVs, not your fanciful protestations. Charging is becoming no problem. Rapid chargers charge during lunch . It is reality.
... AND if one is willing and able to bum around for an hour while waiting for a partial refuel to occur.Nope. And it doesn't show that EV's are good for longer distances, only that they can do longer distances if the infrastructure is in place to support them and working.
Yup. Here in the Midwest, bone cold weather during Winter and very liberal application of road salts is also a problem.Charging is a problem, particularly in the Middle-of-Nowhere. So, what works in the Eastern US doesn't mean it works in the West where things are far more spread out and there are long stretches of road with nothing on them whatsoever.
it takes a special kind of stupid to think this is an argument against Electric vehicles while ignoring oil and gas, and especially while the Trump admin is pushing to get Venezuela oil and gas which comes out of oil sands.
