I work in finance(or maybe finance adjacent) close to NYC, so deal with a lot of very well dressed people. Well dressed men under 30 are literally pouring cologne on. The women are not doing it, in fact they are using less perfume than previous generations. I really do not know why they are doing it.

I know a lot of older people who have complained about the strong colognes. It is not pleasant.

if you smelt something that you thought smelled a bit like roast beef but that was off or rotten, that is exactly how you would identify it even if you had never smelled it prior.
