It would take at least a decade, and a shit ton of money, to develop supply chains outside of China.....and we would have to steal Chinese refining tech....we dont currently know how to do it as well as they do.

Perhaps it's a matter of language usage? My point is to emphasize that we shouldn't use concepts like human rights and democracy as excuses. So when I say, "It's not shameful to just admit it," the key isn't whether what should be acknowledged is reasonable, but rather not lying and using human rights as an excuse.
Behind everything that happened in Iran lies the hardship caused by economic sanctions. This is quite similar to what happened in Syria.
When the US sanctions a country, that country experiences economic hardship, public discontent leads to street protests and violence, and the US declares any actions taken by the country's government to maintain social stability as violent repression and dictatorship.
This tactic can be used in almost any country. It's fundamentally unfair. Life would be much easier if the US didn't impose sanctions. Moreover, US sanctions not only mean the US won't do business with that country, but can extend to all companies doing business with that country. This is what happened in Syria. A secular regime cannot survive under such sanctions; it is replaced by a group of religious fanatics. Will things get better? More democratic and free? Of course not.
Why does all this happen? Of course, it's for resources, to overthrow regimes that don't obey US orders. This is not about human rights or democracy and freedom at all.
Countries which openly state that they dont give a fuck about international law.....that proclaim that they operate by the law of the jungle...... are not going to be interested in your call for fairness.
