The Mattress economy

I would agree.

They're broke. (the feds)

They know that they have to raise taxes and or cut spending.

And a growing number of Americans are realizing this.

They need to cut spending and in some cases freeze it...and give us damned budget!!!

They need to lower all taxes that effect small business and create some kind of other incentives for companies who hire.

Another thing I want to remind everyone of; it ain't so much the president that is the problem...it's the Congress! Let's cripple this president's atrocious agenda by balancing the power...VOTE GOP this November!

Gee ID, haven't you heard, Consumer Confidence is UP, and every economic indicator shows Obama has turned the worst economy since the Great Depression into the best economy since Reagan... that's what Onzies and Jarhead are saying!

Genesis 1:29
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

In a fiat currency economy, all crashes are planned to create hardship for people so they are motivated to embrace totalitarian fascist solutions out of desperation.

The recession was created by the Marxist. More than W1, and W2.

So,,, by your comments,,,, you defend and stand with the democrats. You're not a republican, you're a democrat. Right?

You defend the democrats.

I'm not a Democrat. The Democrats are right-wing, the Republicans are post-fascist.

I'll be doing my homework.

A 'balanced' government would be a crippled one that's unable to function and do what it was elected to do.

No, it slows its growth and its reach. Government is not elected to grow itself...and that is all this government has done! They didn't even provide a fucking budget to live within; they are so pregnant on their arrogance and power! You are young and quite frankly naive. Get a fucking clue. Get married have some kids buy a home and see how the rest of the "reality" based population supports this fucking government!

Living in a small community I know this is true. I have friends who own small business's and have heard them say specifically that they are too uncertain about how all this change is going to further impact them. Then we have the Bush tax cuts set to expire; Obama could do a lot of good by announcing a plan to extend them.

I call it the mattress economy.

People seem to be following this investment strategy. Step one: Go to Mattress Discounters and buy the biggest mattress you can find. Step two: Take it home, and stuff all your money in it. Step three: Lie down, and get some rest.

This hurts the economy, but it's a rational response to the Obama Democrats' public policies. And that's not just the view of their political opponents.

Consider the plaint of Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, head of the Business Roundtable, which has been playing footsie with the Obama administration for most of the last 18 months. "By reaching into virtually every sector of economic life," Seidenberg recently wrote, "government is injecting uncertainty into the marketplace and making it harder to raise new capital and create new businesses."

Or take a look at Obama backer Nate Silver's fivethirtyeight.com Website. "Why aren't businesses hiring?" asks tax lawyer Hale "Bonddad" Stewart. "Uncertainty: There has been a tremendous amount of change over the last 12 months. Businesses are still trying to figure out what this means for their bottom line. Until there are firm answers, they will freeze hiring."

In other words, the Obama Democrats' vast expansion of the size and scope of government -- and the threat that they may pass even more such legislation in a lame duck session of Congress after the November election -- has chilled the animal spirits that John Maynard Keynes said were the driving force for economic growth.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about a certain hor from Holbrook!

What a disappointment! I thought the thread title was referring to something erotic. :(

A divided government is a weak government that is incapable of making decisions.

Review the terms will and has.

Review the term won't.

Practically no serious economist is predicting high inflation rates in the future. And practically every major depression was preceded by a massive collapse in the money supply - Milton Friedman himself discovered this - so an injection of massive liquidity into the market is justified to prevent the money supply from collapsing. People who think nothing about economics other than "corporation good! government bad!" are not capable of comprehending this though.

The best economy since Reagan was Clintons. And Reagans economy sucked. Reagan was an economic ignoramous.

For as long as I have gotten involved with local and statewide politics, helping people campaign, walking in parades with signs, doorbelling, phone calling, and whatnot, I have seen a lot of candidates run for state congress as disgruntled small businessmen. They have a lot of experiences and stories about all of the bullshit red tape and regulations, piled up to their necks, that they have to deal with as small businessmen. Its sad and frustrating, and they never seem to get any relief from it all.

read the octopus and then try to eat a sausage

consider what our food and drug supply would be like without the udsa and fda - even with them we are not safe - look at the periodic breakouts of salmonella in our food supply

oh yeah, i forgot to mention osha and how much the fda, usda and osha have been weakened, especially during the bush years - along with banking regulations

The economy did not notice the coming of Tax Cut for the 1% Acts, and it will not notice the going.

I have to work. I can't afford to start feeling security on that logic.

The better off I am, the better off the country is. The less you have to give out, (because of independence) the greater our nation, and society is.

Just remember that that 1% is something that I will be paying on. And I don't make anything close to $250,000.00 per annum.

And it's against my will.
