See,...now that's the real shame here. If only everyone else around him would have been armed the minute he pulled his gun they ALL could have opened up on him and peppered him so full of lead they would STILL be picking his brains off the wall. But noooooooooooo....

I think you misunderstand the primary goal of the police, which is to not shoot anyone.

I favor better mental healthcare for all Americans. 50,000 of them commit suicide every year and the Democrats don't give a shit about them except the half that use a gun. Same goes for the nearly 17,000 murders in the US last year:

I don't see how that would do much, if anything, either.

You can't significantly curtail the mental fucked-upedness of millions of people, some of whom aren't really even mentally ill but just assholes, with an army counselors that only number in the thousands.

I just don't see how it would be possible to put a significant dent in the level of gun violence that exists in the US via mental health counseling. I don't think there are enough qualified counselors out there to meet the demand of counseling a society of 350 million people.

The only thing that would put a stop to it would be to stop the flow of guns, bullets, gunpowder, the ingredients to make gunpowder etc.

And that would be a monumental task which would take years to accomplish and cost a lot of people on both sides, their lives in the process.

It's a tough and complex problem which the gun worshipping political right has gotten us into, and with no easy way out.

Just one more aspect of modern life that has been ruined by the small-minded ignorance of conservatism.
