Jimmy Kimmel’s short-lived ratings spike comes to screeching halt

On Thursday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” averaged 2.3 million total viewers — a staggering 64% drop from the 6.5 million who tuned in for Tuesday’s much-hyped return.

Kimmel shed even more viewers in the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54, with Thursday’s episode hemorrhaging 73% of viewers from the critical category.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” pulled in 1.7 million viewers among the key demo for Tuesday’s return but plummeted to 465,000 only 48 hours later.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” also lost significant viewers in the younger demographic of adults aged 18-49, managing 1.2 million on Tuesday but quickly losing 73% to settle for only 334,000 on Thursday.

That was September. In December, he's down to about 1.8 million viewers and falling... Failing?

The measure will actually be when they completely level off.

Will they still be higher than what they were? Or does he go back down to where he was, or worse?

He's still pretty well above where he was, I believe. Of course the spike was going to dissipate - most of those new viewers were just there for the event. But my guess at the time was that some would stick, which is still a win for Kimmel.
Look at what passes for a 'win' in libtard land these days.

A washed-up, overpaid 'comedian' whose show was already bleeding viewers decides the best way to crawl out of the toilet is to take a cheap, fact-free shot at people mourning a peaceful free-speech icon who was just murdered in broad daylight on live television.

Result? One pathetic little ratings bump, enough to lift him from 'total disaster' to merely 'disastrous'. Still nowhere close to justifying whatever NBC is stupid enough to pay him, but that's never the point with these clowns; any spike in attention no matter how short is treated like a Pulitzer these days.

I wonder how embarrassed he is when he runs into his buddies. I'm mean a one-year contract is unheard of for late night television. Even Seth Myers got 4 years, so did Fallon. Poor Jimmy is clearly the loser in whatever room he's in.

Why would they want to lose money, dumb shit!
LOL, what a dipshit, it's a well known fact his terrible show loses money. My God you're thick. Best estimates have his show losing 30-50 million a year. He hasn't turned a profit in years. All three shows plummeted from 440 to 220 million in ad revenue in 5 years. Where have you been? No worries, they'll make it up on the flip side from exploiting morons like you.

hey moron, it was never about ratings, its was about the 1st fuckin amendment!!!
Here's Ms. Big Letters with her delusions. Tell us how? Did I miss the policy, law, or fine? Did I miss the part where the Trump administration demanded his show is shut down? I did see that 70 ABC affiliates threatened to pull the show from their stations and many did. Is that what you mean? No? Tell us exactly what you mean. You can't, you're just a clueless parrot exploited by left wing billionaires. How does that feel?

The late-night shows all lose money.
  • Viewership down 70–80% since 2015
  • Key demo (18–49) down from 0.68 to 0.16 over the past decade
  • Ad revenue shrinking (Kimmel down 16% YoY)
  • Production costs remain high, even as audiences migrate to streaming and YouTube

Not Greg Gutfeld or Sean Hannity....

Cite?

Why would the network extend his contract if they’re losing money?
Do you believe anything they tell you to believe, don’t you?
