What I (or we) are trying to determine is the basis for that opposition.
It appears it is because you dislike S.F., not for any rational reason.
YOu applaud the limitations of freedoms when it gives you more places to eat without smoke, but oppose it when it has no effect on you at all.

It started with prohibition, walked back. Continued with grass and escalated with 'legal' cigarette smoking and sin taxes.
Now it's escalating.
Totally. Now they're like regulating which beverages will be made available in vending machines in public buildings. Obviously, all beverages should be made conveniently available. Even Fresca. Some people like it. And the mayor shouldn't get to decide whether some people can drink Fresca or not.
Or they can let the vendors choose based on what sells best. That might have worked for us for a while. You know, like 200 years or so.
There were vending machines 200 years ago? Wow. I assumed they were a more modern convenience.

Baby steps with controlling vendors, next grocers. One can agree with the premise of health/safety, yet still embrace that all have the right to make their own decisions.

This is a Straw Man, another misrepresentation of my opinion.
Gavin Newsom needs to occupy his time doing something more productive, like figuring out which Armani suit to wear to work...
He's a screaming, hand-wringing, do-gooder liberal that has the same misguided belief that we need the government to tell us how to act, eat, vote, smell, engage with etc.
He is an Obamamite through and through, but more to the point. Have you ever had soy milk for chrissakes? It sucks!
Usually, back in the day, vendors had carts rather than machines.
Soy milk is one of the worst tortures invented by mankind. Promoting its use is worse than promoting waterboarding.
Soy isn't good for men; maybe that's what's wrong with so many men in SF???
No wonder it tastes so much like poison! I think if you threatened to feed only soy to terrorists they would spill their guts.

Actually 2 of the buildings I'm considering do have 'grocers' of a sort. One a Trader Joe's, another a 7/11.
Which of course is quite besides the point, as straw men usually are. You seem to want discourse, yet you slime your way out of it each and every time. I'm not a 'gotcha' poster, which is why I post on this site relatively infrequently.
