What does this painting mean to you?

You're as nasty and unGodly character as I've ever encountered.

If people like you are the product of American churches, then they should all be shut down.

Some of the nastiest, most ignorant, intolerant and narrow-minded people I've ever seen (people like you IOW) are the ones who run around flapping their lips about God and Jesus etc., while acting like total a-holes.

I'm fairly certain that God/Jesus are embarrassed by people like you claiming to be worshippers of theirs.
Guys, guys, its the Thanksgiving holiday, please lets show some love...LOL

OK prove wrong. Show me the settlements and the victims they represent. I'll wait....

I'm glad you agree too bad your religion hid the diddling and protected the diddlers.
You're so dishonest it's useless discussing this with you. You're laser-focused on the priests' victims but you don't give a shit about all the other victims.

Christ had nothing when he died except a robe. Popes die with all the trappings of wealth.
They don't own the wealth they're surrounded with. And not all of them took on all the trappings, it was conservative ones like Benedict who had his shoes hand made, among other things. Pope Francis was the humblest pope in my memory, and Pope Leo isn't far behind him.

Of course. Most of them are rules for leading a moral life, and that doesn't necessarily apply only to organized religion.
Do you?
Yes so THIS IS WHAT I'M talking about when I say the Catholic Church changed the Sabbath. Even THEY say they changed it. I don't think anyone has the authority to change God's Word do you? Here are three quotes There are lots of other similar quotes.

Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine by Reverend Peter Giermann. “Question: Which is the Sabbath day? Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day. Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church in the Council of Laodicea transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.”

Second, from Reverend Steven Keenan’s Doctrinal Catechism we read this: “Question: Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept? Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day; a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.”

Then from Cardinal Gibbons’ book, The Question Box, p.179, “If the Bible is the only guide for the Christian, then the Seventh-day Adventist is right in observing Saturday with the Jew. Is it not strange that those who make the Bible their only teacher should inconsistently follow in this matter the tradition of the Catholic Church?”

How does it make you feel?

No photo description available.
CONSERVATIVE ANSWER: "Looks like a sermon on Galatians 6:5 about accepting personal responsibility and making the community great again."
LEFTIST ANSWER: "I hate the white privilege stamping out diversity and inclusiveness under the white nationalist agenda of supremacy."
NEUROSURGEON ANSWER: "This image leaves me feeling with my hands, like everybody else."
TRUTHFUL ANSWER: "I feel sorry for the boy on the end who is obviously bored out of his mind."

They control and use the wealth and most of them accept the trappings.

I have seen their bejeweled crowns and even gold embroidered slippers and huge rings most don't cloth themselves like Christ did. Christ rode a donkey into Jerusalem. I have seen pictures of popes riding into the Vatican on a hand carried palanquin like a king.

It was absolutely in the church I grew up in... I informed them that it was improperly displayed on the right hand side of the stage when viewed from the audience... The Colorado flag was also displayed. They corrected how the flag was displayed...
But you said you went to some fundamentalist church. I avoid fundamentalists and Christian nationalists like the plague.
None of the plethora of mainline Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox churches I've been to mixed a political symbol with the worship space.

Yep, that's Pope Benedict. I guess you don't understand anything about artifacts, antiquities, national treasure and history. All Popes didn't follow Benedict's style. Btw, it wasn't the Catholic church that came up with the idea of a prosperity Gospel.

What does a day of the week have to do with being moral? Most of your Protestant denominations have the Sunday Sabbath too, why aren't your criticizing them?

Key Points

  • The early Church did not officially move the Sabbath; rather, Sunday was adopted as a day of worship alongside the Sabbath.
  • The change was influenced by cultural and political factors rather than a direct command from scripture.
This historical evolution reflects a complex interplay of faith, tradition, and societal change within early Christianity.

Every single Catholic church I have attended presents a flag of the country in which it resides. Every single one.

I was at a cathedral in Deutschland joking that God was obviously Deutsch (pointing to the Deutsch flag), which explains why He understands German.

I went to a Pentecostal Church, whether you avoid them or not, I've seen the flag in Baptist Churches as well as Methodist Churches. They even display one in the local Catholic church here...
