The House of Representatives approved a resolution condemning the “horrors of socialism” Friday morning in a vote that sharply divided Democratic lawmakers.

Lawmakers voted 285 to 98 in favor of the measure offered by Republican Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, the daughter of Cuban exiles, that denounced socialism in “all its forms” and socialist policies in the United States. More than seven dozen Democrats backed the resolution, including House Democratic leadership. (RELATED: ‘Question Of How We Do It’: Mamdani Punts When Asked How He’ll Fund Chief Campaign Promise)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who is viewed as a leader of the Democratic Party’s left flank, opposed the measure condemning socialism.

Two Democratic lawmakers, North Carolina Rep. Deborah Ross and Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum, voted “present” on the resolution.

All voting Republicans supported Salazar’s resolution. Twenty Republicans did not vote.
Why would they, it would be the same as condemning Social security, Medicare, any Government service oriented operating entity, and the numerous socialist programs that are central to all Americans

Earl, do you understand what the word socialism mean????????????????

This word entered the English lexicon around 1832, stemming from a French word 'socialisme'. It refers to an economic system where property, labor, and/or people are 'community owned', as opposed to capitalism, which is voluntary production and sale of products and services at the agreed upon price (free market economy). ALL socialism is based on theft of wealth. Capitalism is the only economic system that creates wealth, so capitalism must be nearby to steal from, or socialism collapses. This pattern has happened through history, bringing with it great misery in the process.

There are three major forms of socialism:

Fascism, or government manipulation of markets, is government not actually owning a business or production, but acting as if they did. You take the risk for starting the business, but government comes along and tells you how to run it. They tell you who you can hire, who you can fire, what you can sell your product or service for (price controls), what you are allowed to buy (you can only buy THIS kind of toilet, THIS kind of lighting, THIS kind of energy, etc.). Fascism was described by Karl Marx as well, and is the first stepping stone on the road to:

Communism, or government ownership of markets. In this stage, government now owns businesses and production. They usually have expanded their fascism to many markets, but some they now own outright. Since government is not an expert at any market, they don't know what they are doing, and the product is inferior and more expensive, and is usually not even what the people want at the time.

Slavery, or ownership of labor. This is simply theft of labor. The mistreatment of such people is well recorded throughout history.

Socialism is based on compulsion. It creates misery and is destructive. Since it is based on theft, it can usually only be implemented by force, using an oligarchy or dictatorship to implement it.

Capitalism is completely voluntary. No government needed (other than to assist dealing with thieves). It is the only system that creates wealth. It is capitalism that built the cities out of the wilderness. It is capitalism that created whole industries, including the personal computer industry and made the internet into what it is today. It is capitalism that created AI and has improved it to the point that it's a very useful tool for anyone. It is capitalism that brought cheap steel, cheap concrete, automobiles, aircraft, even housing and food.

It is SOCIALISM that made these things expensive.

Socialism exists in every nation (including the U.S.). Capitalism also exists in every nation (the free market cannot be killed...it's immortal. Even if it's driven to be a black market, it's still there).

Capitalism gives the poor freedom to improve their lot and make something of themselves, and become rich.
Socialism seeks to make everyone poor, except for the Elite.

Too many Democrats embrace socialism. Some may publicly 'condemn it, but they practice it all the same.

Last time, nutter:

Cuba is a communist nation, Venezuela is a socialist nation.

Move along, now, pendejo.
BOTH are prevalent in socialism. Socialism is not a form of government.

Cuba is primarily communist. Much of Venezuela is as well, but it's mostly fascist.
Capitalism also exists in both nations, much of it driven into a black market.

BOTH communism and fascism are forms of socialism. ALL socialism is based on theft of wealth. It brings nothing but misery.

There is a very important distinction between the socialism tried before in various nations, and the Socialism the Democratic Party is advocating in America.

In other nations where socialism has been tried, and failed, the population was almost uniform by Race and Ethnicity.

In America, the kind of Socialism and public policy, particularly that pushed by Obama3/Biden, is "Ethnocentric" / DEI based redistribution of wealth, aka Socialism.

The infrastructure bill is a great example of the Biden Admin pushing Ethnocentric Socialism.

The Democratic Party Socialism will not be:

"from each according to their ability, to each according to their need",

instead it will be:

"From each White, because they don't deserve to live, to Blacks based on political pecking order, with Muslims always first!"

And Ethnocentric Socialism will be even more unstable, and last much less time, than any Socialism attempted before.

During the Obama3/Biden Admin this process was already put into practice, and it was proven to be more unstable and ineffective than "non-Ethnocentric Collectivism"

The American Democratic Party Socialism will collapse in just a year or two.

That isn't any surprise because all the Republicans/Conservatives at this forum have been saying and witnessing the complete
overhaul of the useless anti American democrat party by going full socialist and even communist.

Either you don't follow the real news of how democrats have become sponsors of today's socialism and socialist policies
or you refuse to admit that the dem party is headed toward the ash heap of history., just like socialism has failed everywhere
it has been tried. You and your socialist buddies/heroes have taken over the reigns of the useless-destructive dem party
leadership with pelosi retiring, schumer all but dead, and jeffries hiding from his role in the Epstein case.
