Plato may have been the first who tried to sell monotheism to a multicultural world. Greek Gnosticism had a major influence on Christianity which found a way to keep with the tradition of polytheism.

I remember reading once that when Erasmus was trying to translate the Bible and he realized that the part of the Gospel of John (The Comma?) that was the foundation of the Trinity concept was not in the oldest manuscripts he had, the Church was able to "find" one or two with it in there so he had to include it.
Sounds "fishy", but then who knows.
The Trinity is a confusing mess of an idea. It's almost like a litmus test for belief: if you can accept 3 = 1 then you are in with the group.

That's a hard one to wrap a head around.
The Trinity is not 3 dimensions of your former storm god. It is 3 distinct and separate persons, but just one god.
That’s what I mean when I say Christians neither understand it nor can explain it.

Obviously, I can’t help you with your willful ignorance. It’s something you have to take care of on your own. But, you won’t.
It’s much more comfortable to remain in your own ignorance than to have your dogma challenged or even questioned.
Not at all hard to wrap your head around. We've known for ~a century that quantum systems can exist in multiple states simultaneously. We know this is a universal physical reality.
If there is a supernatural providential entity, I don't see it as an incomprehensible leap of logic that it could exist in some kind of state akin to quantum superposition.

Quantum physics is well outside my knowledge base.
OTOH, there is zero evidence of miracles, magic or any other supernatural manifestations.
That said, the militant atheists, like MAGAts, love to cherry-pick books written 2000 years ago to bolster their arguments that "There is no God" and "When you're dead, you're dead".
The claim that nothing can exist simultaneously in multiple states is made by atheists who never took college level physics.
Magic is fake. I've never seen anything I would call a miracle, but many people claim they have experienced miracles including my wife.
I wonder which atheist author put out the call that the Trinity was Christianity's Achilles heel, and it should be attacked relentlessly by internet atheists?

IMO, all the events are within the realm of probability, not magic AKA miracles AKA supernatural phenomenon.
The Trinity thing is a part of modern Christianity, but IIRC, wasn't formulated until 300 years after the Crucifixion. Like myself, many Americans believe the Bible is "inspired" by God. I'd add the same to other ancient religious texts from around the world. Wisdom is wisdom regardless of the source. It's separating out the dogma that's the problem.

Yes, you're right, most claims of miracles can be written off as coincidence and good fortune.
The miracle my wife described defies easy explanation, and because she is my spouse I have to choose to believe her - or at least I believe that she believes it, to be more accurate.
The word "Trinity" doesn't appear in the Bible, but all three elements of the Trinity are clearly described. So it's not really like the Trinity was invented centuries later; the concept of a Trinity was there from the beginning.
A very reasonable belief, since the Bible is not a modern scientific treatise nor modern historical research paper. It's chock full of poetry, allegory, hyperbole, symbolism.
afaik, the only people who insist on strict biblical literalism are fundamentalist congregations, and militant atheists.
