She was compared to Harriet Meyers on this cite, yet is headed for almost sure comfirmation by the Sennate with the support of several Republicans...

Kagan will be an excellent supremem court justice, dispite having spend Christmas in a Chinease Restaurant.

jarod...i don't recall one single person doubting her confirmation, the comparison, iirc, to miers was just that, a comparison, no one to my knowledge claimed she wouldn't be confirmed, they may have expressed hope, but that is not the same thing

you constantly throw out these false claims...if you're not desh's sock puppet, then you were seperated at birth

In response to all of the people claiming Kagan will spell doom for the Court, I would like to remind everyone that she's only replacing Stevens, not someone reputable or worthwhile. If she were replacing Kennedy or one the the enlightened 4, that would be a big deal.

You know it's rough when the Dems have to manufacturer a "win" from an "already won" situation.

The biggest confusion I have with Elena Kagan is whether to call her "Elena", or "Hymie".

LOL. Remember when Jarod was all, "She's Jewish! Will being the first Jew, blah, blah?!"

Then we pointed out that she would be one of six Jewish Justices on the court when she was confirmed he just disappeared for a while?

I find it quite disturbing that she wouldn't answer the question of whether congress had the authority to regulate what we eat or not, and people still want her on the bench.

Who said she would be the first Jew?

Arthur Goldberg, who held the "jewish seat" and was appointed by President Kennedy was the one who encouraged me to go to Law School and was the grandfather of a good friend of mine.

Ive known him since 9th grade and went to Sader Dinners at his house, so Id say I knew there were jewish S.Ct. members prior to Kagan.

Well, you should have actually listened to her response instead of Tom Coburn prattling on and on and on. She made is quite clear that Congress has no authority under the Commerce Clause to regulate non-economic activity (i.e. that people have to eat three vegetables and three fruits per day).
