Billionaire Peter Thiel warns if you ‘proletarianize the young people,’ don’t be surprised they end up communist

And that is such a concern to you and yet i have not seen you mention any concern about this...

Beware: A New Creeping Socialism In Government Is Growing

The government’s buying stakes in corporations and exerting pressure in private enterprise under President Trump is a form of creeping socialism. It will worsen if and when the Democrats retake power.

Trump Is Making Socialism Great Again
-------------------------------

‘Marxism-Trumpism?’ Trump’s try at a planned economy is still socialism.

-------------------------------------

Shall i guess why you don't give two fucks about this magnitudes bigger social by Trump with the Federal government while you will cry about buses and grocery stores?
You've convinced me, I will once again not vote for him.

Don’t you live in or near NYC? I’m sure you saw this mayor’s race up close. Working in CRE, I followed it from across the country since it got national attention.

Mamdani ran on the idea that things were too expensive, especially real estate, and promised rent freezes, free buses, and similar policies. It doesn’t matter that rent freezes and price caps make real estate even more expensive, he articulated a vision that many people in the city bought into.

That's the reality and Thiel is only saying the same thing others are.
News flash, price caps and rent freezes don't make real estate more expensive. Here's a good review as to cause: www.publications.lawschool.cornell.edu/jlpp/2024/11/13/why-is-new-york-city-rent-so-high-even-with-rent-control-laws-in-place/

Apropos to that:
SCRIE has been around since 1973
DRIE has been around since 2005

Can Mamdani deliver 100%? Given the imbedded greed/corruption within the NYC real estate system, I'll be impressed if he makes a 1/3 dent. But the point is the narrative he voices straight up and unapologetic that changes the conversation for the future.

Rent control can work for the individual who benefits from it, but it drives up costs for everyone else. If the complaint is that rent is too high, adding more restrictions to the market just makes the problem worse.

PayPal cofounder and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel doubled down on his worries about generational conflict and the future of capitalism after a similar warning he issued in 2020 proved eerily prescient.

After Tuesday night’s election victory of democratic socialist Zoran Mamdani as New York City’s mayor, an email Thiel sent five years ago went viral.

In the correspondence to Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen and others, he warned that “When 70% of Millennials say they are pro-socialist, we need to do better than simply dismiss them by saying that they are stupid or entitled or brainwashed; we should try and understand why.”

Thiel expanded on those concerns in an interview with the Free Press that was published on Friday, saying strict zoning laws and construction limits have been good for boomers, who have seen their properties appreciate, but they have been terrible for millennials, who are having an extremely hard time buying homes.

“If you proletarianize the young people, you shouldn’t be surprised if they eventually become communist,” he explained.

While Thiel, who backed Donald Trump’s re-election, disagrees with Mamdani’s answers to New York’s housing affordability problems, he credited the lawmaker for talking about the issue more than establishment figures have been.

He also said he’s not sure if young people are actually more in favor of socialism or if they have become more disillusioned with capitalism.

“So in some relative sense, they’re more socialist, even though I think it’s more just: ‘Capitalism doesn’t work for me. Or, this thing called capitalism is just an excuse for people ripping you off,'” Thiel added.

Affordability politics

While Mamdani’s victory highlighted voters’ shift away from Republicans, moderate Democrats also won with campaigns that focused on the cost of living.

The off-year election results were a “wake-up call” for both parties to tackle the affordability crisis, according to polling expert Frank Luntz, who distinguished it from inflation.

Thiel expressed some sympathy for voters seeking bold ideas to solve daunting problems like student debt and housing costs, which previously have been addressed with “tinkering at the margins.”

Such incremental attempts haven’t worked, spurring voters to warm up to proposals outside the typical political discourse, including “some very left-wing economics, socialist-type stuff,” Thiel said.

INCOME DISPARITY BETWEEN WEALTHY AND WORKING CLASS

Right out of Marx. Socialism doesn't work!

Capitalism allows anyone to become rich, moron. It is voluntary. It is not forcing anything.

DEMOCRATS want to force. They want to take away your property and give to themselves.

DEMOCRATS don't care about the poor. They are just pawns to you. You destroy opportunity and hope.
DEMOCRATS don't care about the worker. They tax the businesses they work for into obliviion, and unchecked crime causes even more businesses to close. They destroyed businesses over the Covid Hoax. That's lost jobs, moron.

Not quite.

Socialism is an economic system based on socially sharing by force. It is also what Karl Marx desired.

It has three major forms:

Fascism, or government manipulation of markets. Government tells you what you can buy, how much you can charge for it, when and where you can operate your business, who you must hire, who you must fire...in short you take the risk of getting your business going and they come and tell you how to run it. They assume none of the risk that you took. It is the first stepping stone on the way to:

Communism, or government ownership of markets. The steal from capitalists (the only ones producing wealth), and take it for themselves (maybe chuck a few pennies to the 'poor', as they define them). It is the second stepping stone on the way to:

Slavery, or ownership of people.

ALL socialism is based on theft of wealth. It cannot exist without capitalism to steal from. Once it runs out of places to steal from, it collapses.

He’s not wrong. Take housing where people see rent freezes and price caps as solutions to high costs when they’re actually part of the cause.

The concerns of high costs are legitimate but the problem isn’t capitalism itself. You can’t block supply then be surprised when prices soar.
The high costs are also caused largely by Democrats. During the last economic depression (which started with the Covid Hoax and lasted five years), the dollar was devalued by 37% (Source: US Treasury).

Price controls NEVER work. They ALWAYS cause shortages. It is fascism.

Minimum wage laws cause loss of jobs.
Rent controls cause loss of apartment housing.
Gas price freezes cause shortages of gasoline.

It has been tried again, and again, and again. The result is always the same.

There is no such thing as 'state capitalism'.
No one compels you to buy anything under capitalism. What 'control'??

Democrats WANT control. They WANT to dictate how much you can sell your product or service for. The WANT to dictate what you can buy, who you can hire, who you can fire, etc. Democrats WANT fascism.

Democrats WANT communism also. Government owned housing. Government owned medical care. Government owned insurance. Democrats WANT communism.

News flash, price caps and rent freezes don't make real estate more expensive.
They make apartments less available. Price controls NEVER work. They ALWAYS cause shortages.

...and people are leaving while they still can.

Those who talk like they have no idea where reality is are either liars or idiots....the trick is figuring out out which is going on.....to the extent that I care....which increasingly I dont.

rent freezes are not the solution.

developers stop building when rent freezes loom, squeezing supply and ultimately keeping real estate to high for regular people.

Way to completely change the subject! If red herrings were food, you could solve world hunger with that answer.
Waaaa Waaaaa lets us whine about democrats when they do things that amnount to nothing and do bring up we ignore Trump when he does similar things that are magnitudes worse. WE DON"T WANT TO KNOW OR ACKNOWLEDGE ANY THING BAD TRUMP DOES SO DON'T MAKE US. WAAAA WAAAA. /Terry :rofl2:
