Billionaire Peter Thiel warns if you ‘proletarianize the young people,’ don’t be surprised they end up communist

The problem where this fails is none of those are constitutionally created corporations, which was why Desh posted about the USPS, there is only one of those things. But Hospitals would fit in there nicely with the reality here that they compete with private hospitals. Militaries though, not so much. Militaries are not a private affair and do not compete with mercenaries, though they may enhance with them.
The are still forms of socialism accepted in the US though.

Threads usually take on a life of their own here but Thiel's point is getting missed.

His argument is the high cost of housing first and foremost, then student debt, is what's driving young people to vote for socialists who promise to do things like free rent etc.

People who go off on things like USPS are completely missing his point.

Those in NY city are getting their wish with Mamdani and the result is going to be higher costs.
In almost every way. I cannot wait to hear complaints from the residents that the "free" buses now smell like urine and are unsafe.

The "high cost" is a difference in the types of housing. Back when the boomers were first buying the houses were smaller, with far less of the things that folks expect regularly in houses today (dishwashers, big kitchens, walk in closets, multiple bathrooms, etc.).

This makes for fewer starter homes and pushes the average into McMansionville.
Agreed. That's what all the new houses I'm seeing pop up look like....at about $350K to $500K a pop.

Inflation and the Housing Boom Bust have tripled the value of my home. Still, an acre of land, a septic and well is about $20K. Put a tiny house on that for another $30K and a young couple can have their own home. For under $50K.

Tiny house cost

A tiny house costs $30,000 to $70,000 on average to build, including materials and labor. Tiny home prices are $150 to $450 per square foot, depending on the size, finishes, and if it's on wheels or a foundation. A prefab tiny home is typically cheaper than a custom design.

Webb says that Thiel owned Palantir is central to the New Slavers infrastructure.
Out of curiosity, what does any of that have to do with his comments about housing costs and then student debt driving young people to socialism?

Let me say this in no uncertain terms:

FUCK PETER THIEL AND THE HORSE HE RODE IN ON, AND ALL WHO RIDE WITH HIM!

An apartheid punk born into money who is the political sugar daddy for J.D. Vance's career. An openly gay man whose very existence is demonized by the christian faction of the current theocratic leanings that the GOP (i.e., Spkr. Mike "Grinder" Johnson) uses to draw in many of its followers (aka evangelicals). A man who was quoted in 2009 saying that “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible” ... which feeds into his push to make Palantir a computer system that presents nightmarish scenarios reminiscent of the movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project".
So no, I'm not buying into his revisionist propaganda.

Possible motivation for the production of the words.
I'm not sure anyone needs any motivation to state the obvious. The cost of real estate, especially in a place like New York, is really high and some young articulate guy coming in telling people he'll freeze their rent, make busing free etc. sounds appealing to many.

With respect, did you read what he said?

Take what you can use and leave the rest was always a great practice on the internet.

I dont know about Thiel......but I do like JD Vance who was promoted by Thiel.....and I do like Eric Weinstein who has at points worked closely for/with Thiel.

I also like Whitney Webb who has long been hard on the alarms about Thiel.

With respect, did you read what he said?
With respect, of course I did. Why would you think I didn't? Is it because he gave some half assed platitudes regarding affordable housing in NYC? Hell, that SOB lived in NYC for about 3 years max ... and he sure as hell didn't live in any of the four boroughs other than the pricey area of Manhattan. The bankers he worked for had NOTHING to do with housing. Period.

And guess what? There's been a "working class" in America LONG before you or I or Thiel was born. That included teens and adults. What Thiel alludes to is his version of "yuppies"... the only people he sees as comparable to his experiences.

That is why Mamdani's election has a whole lotta folk's shorts in a twist.... because a coalition of folks gave the finger to the status quo, an opted for true CHANGE.

Thiels personal history is not about that .... unless it benefits the status quo to remain intact as is..

So you know nothing about Thiel but you like his Maga/alt-right/christo-fascist proteges.

Says a lot about you, Hawk ... and none of it flattering.

Well, it was that AND his outlining as to how it would and could be paid for was MOST appealing.

Don’t you live in or near NYC? I’m sure you saw this mayor’s race up close. Working in CRE, I followed it from across the country since it got national attention.

Mamdani ran on the idea that things were too expensive, especially real estate, and promised rent freezes, free buses, and similar policies. It doesn’t matter that rent freezes and price caps make real estate even more expensive, he articulated a vision that many people in the city bought into.

That's the reality and Thiel is only saying the same thing others are.

Rent control can work for the individual who benefits from it, but it drives up costs for everyone else. If the complaint is that rent is too high, adding more restrictions to the market just makes the problem worse.

In almost every way. I cannot wait to hear complaints from the residents that the "free" buses now smell like urine and are unsafe.

And that is such a concern to you and yet i have not seen you mention any concern about this...

Beware: A New Creeping Socialism In Government Is Growing

The government’s buying stakes in corporations and exerting pressure in private enterprise under President Trump is a form of creeping socialism. It will worsen if and when the Democrats retake power.
------------------------

Trump Is Making Socialism Great Again
-------------------------------

‘Marxism-Trumpism?’ Trump’s try at a planned economy is still socialism.

-------------------------------------

Shall i guess why you don't give two fucks about this magnitudes bigger social by Trump with the Federal government while you will cry about buses and grocery stores?

yes because a handful of grocery stores in NYC, amongst all the privately owned ones are the big concern and not what Trump is doing with the Federal gov't and outlets like the Forbes and The Atlantic are sounding the alarm on that you will tell us 'ignore them as you, Terry, know better'.

Way to completely change the subject! If red herrings were food, you could solve world hunger with that answer.
