Ever notice that in the MAGAT cult, if you’re not one of “us” (MAGAT), you’re one of “them”. “Them” being the enemy. Not to be trusted. Vilified. Dehumanized. Targeted. Prosecuted.

Who is the “them”? Including, but not limited to:

Immigrants, gays, trans, dissenters, elite universities, blue cities and states, certain judges and prosecutors, perceived political enemies, anyone who disagreed with the cult leader.

One hundred years ago, the fascist movement took hold using the same tactics. At that time, the “them” was very similar.

Immigrants, gays, the elite, political enemies, Slavs, gypsies, dissenters. They also included the Jews - the perceived cause of all woes. Just like our undocumented immigrants today.

The population of Germany that was not “them” stood by and let fascism take hold, then take control. They even participated.

We’re seeing the same events unfold before our eyes.

In a way we can understand why German citizens sat on their thumbs and did little to stop the tide. They'd gotten their asses kicked and their country and economy destroyed in World War I, followed by punishment from other nations. Inflation was insane, people were going hungry, jobs were difficult to find. Hitler gave them scapegoats. He promised to make Germany great again.

But in 21st Century America, none of these things are really happening. Fox and other Reichwing media are working hard to convince viewers that the economy sucks, no one can get good jobs because "illegals" are taking them. White people, esp. men, can't get promotions because they're going to non-whites and women. This is of course all bullshit. Why do MAGATs continue to believe it though? Because they have walled themselves off from reality because their Gropingfuehrer calls normal media "fake news"?

Speaking for myself, I come to political discussion boards to find out what and how other people think about politics and current events, and so share my own thoughts. I suspect most of us, at least on the left, do so for the same reasons. But do RWers? They seem to constantly assign us attributes and thoughts we don't possess, that come straight from either Trump or their warped media. Gardner's dreck, above, about Xi and Marx is a good example. They are not interested in learning anything, it would appear. Some are propagandists. Some are lonely attention whores. Others are mean trolls. All seem unhappy with their lots in life as you correctly pointed out.
