We had substantial help from the 18th century global superpower France, and it still took us 8 years to defeat the British.
Ukraine is simply making the same kind of request we made in the 1770s: United States support for their fight for freedom against Russia.
Ukraine has had massive support from around the world.
Your point? We made no "request'; we forced England's surrender.

You're speaking the truth England was preoccupied with other wars. If that were not the case then all of the protagonists would have been unceremoniously rounded up and hanged in public.
Now all of Europe is a dead zone....not worth the effort it would take to take as the Russians keep point out.

European nations have limited military and intelligence capabilities compared to the United States. Being on the right side of history means supporting Ukrainian freedom.
We relentlessly pursued French support for our rebellion against Britain, until they agreed to give it.
It's doubtful we would have prevailed in the rebellion against Britain without help from the 18th century superpower France.
We had France's unrestrained help, (it changed the tide of the revolution) however we are refusing important weapons to Ukraine.
The Tomahawks are being used as leverage.
As soon as they are provided to Ukraine, that leverage is lost.
