Martin McGuiness, who is now the second minister in the NI government was found to have had and probably used a machine gun, something that he has always vehemently denied. What seems to have been lost in the fog of war is what precisely was the reason for the march? It was about the highly controversial practice of internment, something which, by the way, was first used by Éamon de Valera in the 1950s to round up the so called official IRA. Americans especially should wonder why they supported extraordinary rendition after 9/11 and explain why that was any different to internment?

If there is a truth and conciliation process in Northern Ireland then I would want McGuiness and Adams to explain what happened to all the people who disappeared and currently lie in various bogs and remote graves throughout NI, they know where they are but have always refused to divulge the details. There were many atrocities in the provinces during those years and to single out one is perverse and totally politically driven by Blair and Co as a price for Sinn Féin/IRA to sign up to peace process.

In an ideal eye for an eye situation only the offender would end up blind (not that I agree with the barbarism of blinding people as punishment).

The problem with blood feuds that exist in Ireland and other countries is that each side keeps on committing atrocities against each other because they can never agree what slight started which atrocity and which atrocity was disproportionate retribution for which slight. Which is the problem with the atrocities the conservatives see as the solution to every problem in the world.
 
This report is an attempt to simply put this to bed and appease the Catholic community.

What galls me, especially as someone who served in NI as a soldier, is the republican community attempting to appear innocent.

A republican appeared on BBC news saying that Londonderry was peaceful at the time. This is complete rubbish. Londonderry was a no-go area for the police, barracades and petrol bombs the order of the day.

The Paras were sent in to smash the no-go area. They did that.

If any attempt is made to bring a soldier to court for this, then that terrorist maggot McGuiness, currently sitting in Ulster's assembly, should be pulled into prison.

I've never been to Northern or Southern Ireland either as it happens.

Anyway, what's any of that got to do with WM?
