Democrat nominee for Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones apologized during an interview on Richmond's WRIC on Saturday, over text messages he sent to a former colleague suggesting he would like to shoot the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates.
The texts were first reported by the National Review.
"What I said was unacceptable, and I accept responsibility for that," Jones said. "Bottom line is that the language is unacceptable. And again, I deeply, deeply, deeply wish that it hadn't happened. I have spent the entire day really regretting all of it."
