Beef and coffee prices surge, grocery costs to spike

Grocery prices in the United States have surged, marking the largest one-month gain in three years, with beef and coffee prices hitting record highs.

According to the Consumer Price Index, grocery prices rose by 0.6% from July to August and are nearly 30% higher than before the pandemic. The increase is attributed to factors such as tariffs and supply shortages.

Ranchers decreased the size of their herds because of drought. Most ranchers raise hay to offset the cost of feed. Drought means they have to but hay and most profit margins don't allow the added expense. So ranchers sold off a lot of their herds. Now it will take 2-3 years to increase the herd size again.

The big new worry is the New World Screwworm which has been found in Northern Mexico. That means live animals can't be imported to help replenish to herds. We for sure do not want the New World Screwworm to infest our herds.

I run a small herd on our family farm in East Texas and our herd size is currently about half of what we have previously run.

MAGA morons did not allow Biden to lean on the excuse that there was a chicken flu outbreak causing an egg shortage, so surging coffee and beef prices are entirely Trump's fault.
Excuses and rationalizations won't cut it.

Biden slaughtered entire flocks instead of sick birds and then quarantining the rest of the flock. Also the laws that require laying hens to be free range PROMOTE the spread of bird flu.

Climate change affects things all down the line. Including national security.

Right. All those meat packing plants and coffee importers.
a fire destroying the Monon Meat Packing and Catering in Indiana in July 2025, and another fire destroying the Hall Name Packing Company in Chickasaw, Alabama, in September 2025. These incidents highlight a pattern of such disasters, with various other meat packing and food processing plants suffering fires or other major damage in recent years, including facilities in Wisconsin, New York, and Idaho.

El Niño is the warm phase of a naturally occurring climate pattern called the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). It is characterized by an irregular warming of the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean's surface, which disrupts normal weather patterns worldwide and can last from nine months to over a year. El Niño influences global temperatures and rainfall, often leading to conditions like increased flooding in the southern U.S. and droughts in Southeast Asia and Australia
La Niña typically brings drier and warmer conditions to Southern California and the broader southern U.S., while leading to wetter and cooler weather in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. This pattern contributes to drought and increased wildfire risks in the south but can increase precipitation in the north.

Climate is not a pattern.

El Nino is not a warming of the ocean. It is a variation in the equatorial counter current.
You cannot warm the Earth. You cannot create energy out of nothing.

You don't have the truth. You have something you read on a biased right-wing website.
What 'right wing website'??? Why should he listen to Democrat propaganda?
You didn't allow the bird flu pandemic to shoulder any of the blame for egg shortages. Not a bit.
What 'bird flu epidemic'???
You can't use any excuses for Trump. Trump is 100 percent to blame for surging coffee and beef prices.
Trump doesn't control coffee or beef.
