Even The Far-Left Atlantic Now Admits Left Wing terrorism Is On The Rise

The Atlantic isn’t far left. Sites like Raw Story or ThinkProgress are straight partisan mouthpieces. The Atlantic is liberal, yes, but it’s more thoughtful and intellectual than that and they've even had centrist or contrarian writers. The fact they’d publish this piece shows it.

The authors argue that polarization and heated rhetoric on both sides are pushing more people toward political violence. I don’t think they’re wrong.

This is correct.

I feel like I'm losing my mind about the rhetoric. I have watched so many conservative podcasts over the past week, and they are extremely disgusted w/ the media & left for using "Nazis and fascists" so much, while COMPLETELY ignoring "vermin," "communists," "the enemy within," "scum," "evil" from the right.

If they want to talk actual violence, there isn't as much of a debate there, though ultimately, we're still talking about a handful of nutters that don't represent a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of 1% of any group.

This is partisan politics. Everyone tries to paint their opponents in the worst light possible, often with the most extreme rhetoric. It's why I don't watch anything political anymore, it's mind numbing.

I'm both watching & listening to more political stuff, and detaching from it more & more.

It's interesting - my son asked me if politics really mattered the other night. Like, did it make a difference in how my life went?

I thought about it, and if I had never watched or listened to anything, and I had absolutely zero idea who was President for the past 20+ years or what policy was, I don't think it would have affected me one iota. I've been pretty fortunate, and prospered on a pretty straight diagonal line throughout my life - and it didn't make a difference that Bush was President instead of Gore, or that Trump is in and not Harris, and everything in between.

The left-leaning Atlantic has reported that left-wing terrorism is on the rise, and has said that there have been more terror attacks from left-wing ideologues than the right in recent years.

The outlet reported that their research "focuses only on incidents of terrorism, which we define as attacks or plots by a nonstate actor attempting to achieve a political end and exert a psychological influence on a broad population."

The dataset that the outlet used "includes the types of weapons used, the intended targets, the number of fatalities, and the ideology of the perpetrators." The report cited the election of Donald Trump as a marker for a rising tide in left-wing violence, but also tried to downplay the amount of violence from the left that has taken place.

The report from the Atlantic comes after left-wing radical Tyler Robinson was charged for the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Some on the left in media attempted to characterize him as far-right, however, authorities have said he was deeply involved in leftist ideology and reportedly inscribed Antifa-linked slogans to the bullets used in the killing.

In text messages between him and his romantic partner and roommate, Lance Twiggs, Robinson appeared to confess to the crime, and said, "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out." Twiggs also identifies as transgender.

The paper reported that 2025 is set to be the "left’s most violent year in more than three decades," when it comes to politically motivated attacks. This comes as President Donald Trump has also labeled Antifa, a radical left-wing group, a domestic terrorism organization.

Antifa members have been responsible for a number of left-wing terror attacks, including the shooting of a police officer in Texas and the firebombing of pro-life pregnancy centers.

National politics is the shiny object we are all drawn too. At least where I live, local politics often has more impact on our day to day life than anything nationally. It's a to each his own thing I suppose. It's good to be an informed citizen but I don't think a happy life requires a daily obsession with following national politics.

The Atlantic became ideological propaganda about seven years ago.....it was the last MAG I read......that and Vanity Fair.

The Atlantic is owned by a Biden megadonor
