Just reciting the magic incantation alone is meaningless. Its necessary to believe in Jesus but its not sufficient by itself.

One assumes it is the one he was talking to directly at that time. But I'm sure there's a special "exegesis" in which "this" means something completely unrelated as does "generation" and "pass" and "all" and...nothing in the BIble means anything unless you need it to mean something.

To be quite honest they should just make a translation of the Bible that reads "Derp, derp derp DERP, derp derp derp derpderpderp" and that way they can plow whatever meaning to the random letters that they need at that moment.

plenty of stuff in the bible means things. Ive had this debate with tons of heretical protestants. Im not saying you are but they engage in theological gymnastics to avoid clear messages.
