I would love to think so,” admitted Garton Ash. “But during seven weeks in the US this summer, I was shaken every day by the speed and executive brutality of President Trump’s assault on what had seemed settled norms of U.S. democracy and by the desperate weakness of resistance to that assault.”

People are getting laid off because companies have to raise the price of the goods they make and sell because Trumps tariffs are driving up the cost of parts and materials they use to make their products , driving down sales.
Large Corps losing Billions because of increased cost the Tariffs are putting on materials they need to buy.
Farmers saying they may have to go bankrupt because the cost a a lot of things the need to keep farming have gone up. Fertilizer has gone up something like 25% or more and that hurts their bottom line.
