Dad died of renal cancer so it took 14 months and I knew it was coming. I cried for the first time in years.
I was just out of the Navy, I got a call that he was in the hospital, I show up and he was already brain dead and they had him on machines... I was shocked at how much it hurt.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Erika was impressive. It was equally shocking to her, she is left with children to care for without him, one so young he likely won't remember his father other than in pictures. I can't imagine having to give a eulogy in a time like that. Though I did give one for my nephew, and that one was a shock as well.
