Prices were lower under Biden!

Ouch! You complained bitterly then? Where are you now?
You have to learn to shop wisely...Take advantage of sales...Now that you're cooking more at home, you can really plan out your food budget, for example.....I love how things are changing for the better, though...
Prices always fluctuate...we'll be fine...
Go enjoy some football and/or family...don't worry...be happy...;)

Unless we had deflation, prices will always be higher than before. Inflation measures how fast they rise, not whether they go up or down. Prices would be higher today if Harris were president too.

I liked it better back in the day when Biden was president and my food did not cost so much

I heard lots of complaints when prices were higher under Biden than they were under Trump’s first term.

It’s true that we almost never have deflation, but we don’t always have inflation at the rate we currently have.

Top is too stupid to realize that the prices of just about everything we buy are going up costing people a lot more and that there are a lot of low income hard working people that were just getting by before prices started going up because of Trump's tariffs and now that Trumps BBB is kicking in and a lot of the federal programs people depended on to get by are going away people are getting hurt and hurt bad.
She says shop smart and look for bargains well when even the " bargain " price is still a lot higher then what it was say 6 months ago shopping for them still cost you more now then it did then .
She and a few other MAGAS laugh when I keep pointing out the price of coffee, well it was $9.99 last Dec/ beginning of Jan 2015 and Yesterday at Walmart it was $22.95 for the same size can, that is what a 133% increase?
People are being hurt by Trumps tariffs and they have ONLY STARTED to kick in.

You’re right the rate changes, but prices don’t drop back down when the rate falls.

Inflation peaked in 2022. It slowed to 3.0% in January 2025 and stayed below that through August. In August it increased slightly to 2.9%.

My only point is that the Trumppers, were whining, back in 22’. After Trump gave away huge money due to COVID!

I’m pointing out hypocrisy.

Let's see...

The annual rate of inflation in 2024 was:

2.9%

The annual rate of inflation in 2025 so far is

2.3%

Rate of inflation doesn't address the thread topic.

Of course prices were lower under Biden. Unless we get deflation it will continue to be that way. The prices under Biden shot up at a far higher pace. In this world of fiat currency, planned inflation will always increase prices. The issue under Biden was that unplanned inflation reaching nearly 14%.

What is it you believe caused that?

Three main issues:

1) Covid disruptions/Supply Chain Issues
2) Fed leaving rates too low for too long
3) The 2021 $1.9 trillion stimulus

Happy to go into the weeds on any of those, but that is your answer.

Edit: My apologies if I misunderstood the question you were asking.
