Explain how Kimmel’s timeout has anything to do with free speech. Anything. Was he arrested or killed? Has he been told he can’t say what he wants? I haven’t heard that. Are there rules stopping him from speaking truth to power? Does the Constitution protect your right to say or do whatever you want at your job? The FCC has a Constitutional mandate to regulate the airways. They control the airwaves and do so by the mandate of the US Congress.
They can warn anyone not to lie (it was not a criticism, it was a lie) about a murder's political leanings...it's not in the public interest to do so.
