Ancient writings that conflict with science are simply the perceptions of the people of the times. Not just "the Bible", which the militant atheists always attack, but also the Torah, Quran, Norse mythology, Greek mythology, etc, which they rarely, if ever, do.
It was only a few hundred years ago when medical science reached a point where they stopped believing in the "Four Humors", leeches and drilling holes in the heads of insane people to let out the demons.
