Trump’s misreading of Russia has cost Ukraine. Now Putin is making his intentions clearer than ever

Call it a valiant, optimistic, perhaps even a calamitous misreading.

US President Donald Trump’s belief he could somehow, through force of personality, convince his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that he wanted a peace deal was, at best, overly generous to himself and the Kremlin head.

It was fed by the strategic hot take that Moscow is an ally-in-waiting for the United States against China, rather than – increasingly – an energy-producing vassal to Beijing.

And while this misinterpretation of the situation has cost Ukraine dearly – in terms of the public shakiness of its American support, and by providing a window in which Russia’s forces could coldly plough forward on the front lines – valuable and obvious lessons have been learned, again, by Washington.

Trump proves once again that he's a LOSER.

I am not so sure it was a case of “misreading,” how could anyone misread Putin.

I am beginning to think Trump does admire Putin and sees himself on that level. Not a “misread,” Trump’s “negotiating” for peace is just a charade to appease others this allowing Putin to do whatever he wants while the “negotiating” was continuing. When the ceasefire was immediately taken off the table it was the signal

Probably a little of both. Like all JPP MAGAts, the Orange Jesus is often self-deluding in addition his extreme narcissism. He wants to be a mob boss and, now, a "strongman", a dictator who pines after other dictators hoping to earn their respect. Instead, he's a joke.

A psychologist has claimed that two factors are fuelling what he referred to a Donald Trump's "collapse" as he sounds the alarm over the president's cognitive ability.

Clinical psychologist Dr Harry Segal revealed on the latest episode of his Shrinking Trump YouTube series that he's been looking at Trump's behavior from two perspectives. "First from his malignant narcissism, that is a severe narcissistic personality disorder which results in Trump's lack of empathy for others, his compulsive lying, his criminal behavior," he explained.

"That is, we're starting to see some of the early signs of cognitive dissolution on Trump's part. So, we've been noting that and chronicling it," Dr Segal added.

During Friday's episode of Shrinking Trump, Segal first pointed to the Epstein file scandal as a factor allegedly fuelling Trump's "collapse". The Trump administration has faced backlash in recent months for failing to deliver on a promise to publicly release more files related to the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Agreed but there should be no doubt Putin fully understands and manipulates Donnie like a puppet.

Russia has access to all the biological samples and experts of the USSR. That includes Smallpox, and engineered diseases that we never made.

Meanwhile, Russia is actively working to support the alt right's hatred of vaccines, and firing of our experts. It is like they are engineering a perfectly weak America to attack with a bio weapon.

TBH, I support survival of the fittest. If our nation wants to commit suicide, then let it. Let Natural Order reign.

Nearly everyone in the world is shitting on Trump, even Israel, our closest ally in the ME didn’t think it was important enough to advise the U.S. about it’s attack on Qatar during the US’s negotiations, not only Putin

With humans at least, the fittest are the ones who work best in groups. We are not the strongest creatures, but put us in a group working as a team, and we are unstoppable. I had been retreating from humanity since the pandemic... Well actually before the pandemic, but whatever. I am beginning to remake contacts with like minded people.

If I have one vague recommendation for everyone, it is to make contact with like minded people. Obviously, everyone's minds is different, so the people who you would make contact is different.

I love America dearly, but maybe that is like the love that many Irish Americans have for Ireland. They love it dearly, but have never been there, and probably would not like it much if they went.

Shitting on Trump or simply laughing at him for his gratuitousness?

Let's be honest, MAGAts are evil, anti-Constitutional scum. They don't want to have a discussion about it. What is the smart person to do?

Playing Trump, something world leaders have learned to master, butter up his ego, tell him he is “tremendous,” and you can get away with just about anything

Donald J. Trump, as deep as a soup dish just like his fans. LOL

The astonishing thing is how many suckers are licking up to him. WTFO?

Agreed about unity. Look at what Americans did in 1776: they tossed out a King! Now some weak assed traitors want to bring it back? WTFO???

When will it be time to take down the Tories? How best to do it?

Both Netanyahu and Putin see Trump as a useful idiot.

He has absolutely zero hand with either because his opening move is to give them everything they have asked for and often more making it so they do not have to negotiate or do anything.

They treat him like the fool he is.

And as these wars only get bigger, his magat morons cry because Trump will never get a Nobel Peace Prize.

I just cannot bring myself to be the one to fire the first shot. I might not be able to even return fire. It is a problem.

No worries. The odds favor no one on this forum will be. It's about numbers; incite enough people to violence in an attempt to become dictator and some people will become violent. Out of millions, all it takes is a few. 0.0000001%

The question all Americans need to ask themselves is "How far will terrorists, traitors and pedophiles have to go before I act?"

The right wing Three Percenters claim that it would only take 3% of the population to overrule 97% of the population with violence. I think that is an overestimate. There needs to be a lot of tacit support among the 97% for it to happen.

Biden's "misreadeing of Russia" basically caused the war. St least Pres. Trump is trying to end it.

Trump's way of trying to end it was to say to Putin, you want 'X', I counter and offer you X+More.

Since Trump has got in Putins actions and moves and his demands only grow bigger.

He is mocking Trump while showing the world he is a weak puppet. He knows when he is across the table from weakness.
