Trump Claims the Power to Summarily Kill Suspected Drug Smugglers

The move to treat criminals as if they were wartime combatants escalated an administration pattern of using military force for law enforcement tasks at home and abroad.

By ordering the U.S. military to summarily kill a group of people aboard what he said was a drug-smuggling boat, President Trump used the military in a way that had no clear legal precedent or basis, according to specialists in the laws of war and executive power.

Excellent! Fantastic job Mr President!

This would be the same power that Obama used to summarily kill a US citizen that was working with terrorists.

So, all Presidents have a right to illegally kill people?
It seems like it. Back then folks that will say this is all copacetic were up in arms about Obama drone bombing a terrorist. Those that were gung ho about Obama summarily killing a US Citizen with a drone are now upset over Trump killing terrorists with a drone strike. The same action, for the same reason. The same reaction... opposite sides of the political coin.

So, Presidents are above the law. Why we have fascism.

If you say that is fascism then you do not know what fascism is.

And "fighting terrorism" is the job of the Executive. The argument can be made that both acted within their authority. And the total lack of any indictments for this before, during or after they were in office would tend to agree with it.
