The Milwaukee Brewers remind me of...........

A lot of those old 70's teams that played smartball, were super aggressive on the base paths, a single became a double, ect ect....outstanding defense and contact hitting,...moving the guy over.... and world class pitching from starters thru middle relievers and closers. Its refreshing!

Actually,...they remind me a lot of the team that beat us in our only World series series, back in 82,...the St Louis cards. Back in those days the Brewers were really some bombers,...they hit home runs at a PROLIFIC rate. They had "good" pitching and decent defense. But the cards had elite defense, contact hitters, base running bandits,...and OUTSTANDING pitching from top to bottom. Now its the Brewers who play this way,...one of the few left in MLB I might add. They have come full circle. Not saying they are going to finally bring home a championship for me " Im too young to have seen the "Milwaukee Braves"...but they have as good a chance as anyone,...in fact, right now....they, are the best team in baseball!

GO BREW CREW! :)

And they've been doing it on a budget that is but a fraction of the top spenders in the league.

Yep.....they went 6-0 against the Dodgers who have a payroll TRIPLE that of the Brewers! By the way,....I was fairly high on Council,...But I tell ya what,...I'll take Murphy and his " pocket pancakes" any day of the week! He's been and absolute blessing! GO CREW! Mets tonight..........." Meet the Mets.......greet the Mets.......come on in and BEAT the Mets! (y)

Looks like the Crew is following thru. Took the first two from the Mets,....going for the clean sweep today!

Tigers record........81-61

Brewers record.....87-55 " best in major league baseball"

Nordberg once again is basing his opinion on NOTHING and clearly not FACTS.

Brewers have the second best batting average in Baseball, tigers coming in at 11, Brewers have also scored more runs then Detroit. Brewers are number two in stolen bases,....meanwhile Detroit comes in DEAD last in all of baseball. Brewers also play much better defense than Detroit does. Brewers come in at number 4 in baseball when it comes to batting average against them, Detroit is at number 10. Brewers pitching staff comes in with 2nd best ERA in all baseball,....Detroit is number 12.

It would be a good world series, and one I am hoping to see,...But Nordy is basing what he has said on NOTHING.

Brewers suck.
Brewers can actually put up points without having to hit home runs.

They're not only the best team in baseball (record-wise), but they're also doing so with a much lower budget than other teams (Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, etc.)

Do I think they'll win the World Series? Probably not, but I do think that IF they get a first round bye, then they'll have a legitimate chance to get to and/or win the World Series.

True. I'm a Pirates fan...
I used to pitch for the pirates many years ago,....its true. Of course it was my little league team that was called the pirates But I DID PITCH FOR THE PIRATES,...in 7th grade. ! :)

I think Milwaukee has a legitimate shot at making the World Series this year. Yes, the Woodruff injury is a big hit, and Miz has cooled off from earlier this season, but they did get the #1 ranking that they needed to help them through the playoffs, they now get to face the Cubbies instead of the Padres (which I think bodes better for them), and one of the Dodgers or the Phillies has to go down before they would even get to face Milwaukee.

If the Brewers were a lower seed, then I would have completely written them off from World Series contention, but with the #1 seed, I think they stand a fighting chance at it (even with the Woodruff injury).
