DC has murder-free week

From when, 2022? Because eating out dropped like a stone due to Bidenflation. Blaming it on Trump is so childish.

Again, since when, 2000? The Internet and dismantled brick and mortar - the Wuhan Designer Virus® was the final stake through the heart - habits changed and won't be changing back.

It kills you that we have a booming economy.

ROFL - the polling is overwhelmingly positive for cleaning up DC - one of the most crime riddled cities on earth.
The economy isn’t booming, pally boy. That’s why the Fed indicates they’ll be cutting interest rates. To spur the economy. That’s pretty basic stuff.

You got it 180° wrong on the polling. Not surprising, however. The residents overwhelmingly disapprove.

Sorry, pally boy, I don’t know nor care where “around here” is. The guard appears to be concentrating their presence in tourist areas, I guess to be more visible, rather than the troubled areas of the city. Better way to impair the economy that way, isn’t it?

There are laws against the military assuming police duties. You’re probably ignorant of those, as well.

Then stay away, if you're scared of the US military, pussyboy..

Make me aware of those laws.

We are scared of losing the rights enshrined in the Constitution. You are a Trumpy. The Constitution is ignored now. You do not care about the laws. You do not care if Trump breaks any law. He is your king.

It is Constitutional, Nordy.

Yes, a president can declare a national emergency to federalize the National Guard, which then allows them to respond to events like natural disasters, rebellions, or obstructions of federal law, even without a governor's request. This power is primarily derived from the Insurrection Act of 1807 and the National Emergencies Act (NEA). A presidential declaration of emergency can trigger over 120 statutory powers, including deploying military forces and federalizing the National Guard to execute federal law or suppress domestic violence.

Aug 11, 2025 — Trump signed an Executive Order declaring a crime emergency in the District of Columbia to protect public servants, citizens, and tourists, and ...

People are loving being able to be out and about...knowing that criminals are being rounded up...
They can sleep at night without having to hear gun shots...They can drive up to a red light and wait for it to change with their windows down...
DC is getting their streets back...their communities back...
Who would be afraid to go out to eat or to the movies now? Or to a museum...or to shop?

I have no plans to visit DC in the foreseeable future. Many people will make the same decision because of the military presence.

The 1878 Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the military from being used as a police force. An exception would be a governor calling the guard in a particular state for civil unrest. Now, Trump is in charge of the DC Guard, but it appears he’s federalizing other state guard units under the guise of insurrection, massive civilian unrest or some such bullshit. He will probably get away with all of it because of the vagueness of his authority. DC is nothing more than a testing ground for him to further his authoritarian agenda.

Nope. The overwhelming majority of residents are against the military presence. And businesses are also taking a hit.

That is incorrect...businesses are fine...
Why would someone be afraid to dine or shop ? The streets are so much safer now...that's a very good thing...
Look at the arrests and confiscation of illegal guns, just to begin with...
The kids aren't hijacking cars at 3 AM...I mean, there's nothing bad about this...

Sorry, I can’t help you with your blinders. The locals are overwhelmingly opposed to the military presence.

You can think what you want. The surveys from people who track dining out reservations and the such say otherwise.

Hmmmm
What club is losing $15 grand a night? Why?
Mark Rutstein, a co-owner of Crush Dance Bar on U Street and 14th, a hub of DC nightlife, told WUSA9 that the gay bar just had its “worst Friday in history.”

“We lost a little more than $15,000 that night,” he said. “Three more weeks of this? I mean, we’re talking about a couple hundred grand.” From CNN

You’ll have to ask the patrons why. Being afraid of masked ICE raids, a military presence and increased police presence everywhere probably accounts for it.

Thanks for posting the Crushing loss...I appreciate it and it explains everything...very revealing...;)
But those surveys don't mean a thing for a week...

If you claim something simply back it up...;) The $15,000 claim and why...
Those surveys don't mean a thing for a week...
I just did.

Thanks for that...wow...he better try to reassure those previously hanging out a Crush...;) Why would they be afraid of some guard/police in the street...what do they have to worry about if they're law abiding patrons? That's some night life...lol. They'll be OK...they serve lunchables...lol...
"2007 14th St NW is located in the Logan Circle neighborhood, which is generally considered one of Washington, D.C.'s trendier and safer areas. However, safety on the 14th Street corridor can vary, particularly at night.
Recent crime and safety concerns
Property crime: A September 2024 report in The Wash notes that the area around 14th Street and the neighboring Shaw area has experienced a notable number of burglaries. Some business owners have expressed concerns about after-hours crime and have implemented enhanced security measures.
Increased police presence: In response to a recent uptick in crime, there is an increased police and security presence on 14th Street, especially at night.
Shift in perception: A year-long rise in D.C.'s crime numbers has left some residents and business owners feeling more cautious than in the past. This affects how safe people feel, particularly when out after dark.
General safety tips
While the area is generally safe, especially during the day, it is always wise to remain aware of your surroundings.
Like in any urban environment, it is best to be more cautious and vigilant late at night.
Checking the official D.C. Metropolitan Police Department crime map for the most current data can provide specific insight into the types of incidents occurring in the immediate vicinity. "

Quote whatever you want about its location, safety, etc., the owner said he lost $15,000.
