US President Donald Trump has been left embarrassed after Fox News called him out after an "unsuccessful" meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The pair met in Anchorage, Alaska to discuss Russia's ongoing conflict with Ukraine, with Trump being clear he wanted to reach a deal to ease tensions between the countries.
But as the meeting concluded, a deal was not met, and Fox News' Jacqui Henrich, a senior White House correspondent, called out the President in a live video link to the studio, in a move that is extremely rare for the news channel.
She said: "It was very unusual, atypical and I think we're all awaiting the read-out because the way it felt in the room was not good, it did not seem like things went well and it seemed Putin came in and steamrolled, got right into what he wanted to say and said what he wanted to say to the President and then left."

Before the meeting, Trump informed reporters aboard Air Force One en route to the meeting that "the war's got to stop and the killing's got to stop."
The president went on to tell journalists that the US represents the "hottest country" globally, and Putin "wants a piece of that" since Russia is "not hot, economically."
When a reporter inquired whether territorial exchanges might be considered, Trump responded, "They will be discussed, but I've got to let Ukraine make that decision, and I think they'll make a proper decision."
"But I'm not here to negotiate for Ukraine," Trump stated, noting that without his presidency, Putin would seize all of Ukraine, but emphasized, "but he's not going to do it."
Regarding the potential for US security assurances for Ukraine, Trump answered, "Maybe."

In a clip posted on Fox's X account, Trump can be heard promoting his thoughts on the upcoming meeting.
"I think it's going to work out very well, and if it doesn't, I'm going to head back home real fast," the president says.
Meanwhile, Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, reportedly told Russian state media on Friday that he anticipated the summit between Putin and Trump to take a while.
"In general, one can imagine that, of course, this might take at least six to seven hours," he said.
