“(AP) - President Donald Trump’s plans for 100% tariffs on computer chips that aren’t made in the U.S. are stoking confusion among businesses and trading partners”

The U.S. imports a relatively small number of chips because most of the foreign-made chips in a device — from an iPhone to a car — were already assembled into a product, or part of a product, before it landed in the country.”

“The real question everybody in the industry is asking is whether there will be a component tariff, where the chips in a device would require some sort of separate tariff calculation,” said Martin Chorzempa, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.”

The world is racing towards AGI, but only one part of the world will get there first. Second place appears to be completely losing.

Part of that is buying the chips to run AGI. trump has decided we will only be able to buy half the chips we could have without him. It is just another way trump is making America the losers.
 
This tariff shit is nothing but a way for trump to keep fucking up the world's economy and destroying our standing in the world. Our former allies are going to have to circumvent the USA, cutting us out.

Tariffs DO have a place in trade IF they are REASONABLE say 5% maybe even 10% but the ones Trump is putting on 30/40/50 percent or MORE up to 100/150% or more are NOT reasonable.
I don't understand how the MAGAS don't understand that manufactures and exporters are NOT going to pay the total amount and will be passing the increase on to the US consumer.
Increasing the price of just about EVERYTHING we buy.
Trumps tariffs have already increased the price of food, autos , and many more things causing layoffs in those industries and NOT all of his tariffs are in place yet or have worked through the supply chain.
When they finally do it is going to hurt a lot of low income Americans , people who are working two jobs or more and just getting by now, what do they expect these people to do now that Trump and the Republicans have already cut federal programs these people depend on now just to get by.
IF he doesn't flip flop AGAIN and actually puts them on we should start seeing prices of most everything we buy going up by the end of Sep or mid Oct.
It is going to be a real shit show, and it will hit a lot of MAGAS and other people really hard.
Time will tell.

And maybe just maybe having these tariffs in place and everybody paying higher prices for everything we by for 6 or 8 months the MAGA will start feeling the hit to their pocketbooks and decide they didn't vote for this , even if they did, and start thinking we need to change things and vote for a DEM to fix the mess Trump and the Republicans made like they always do.
Hopefully it will put the DEMs back in control of Congress.
